  Andhi Mazhai - I guess its Amrithavarshini. Dont think its vasantha. Anyway, just had a look at the notation- S-R prayoham is absent with vasantha, is it not? Pls let me know.

  It is undoubtedly vasantha the scale for whichg is SMGMDNS | SNDMGRS its a janya of the 17th mela suryakanta. Amrutavarshini`s scale is SGMPNS|SNPMGS its a janya of 66th mela chitrambari and has prati madhyama while vasanta has shuddha madhyama.Also if u notice the notation for andhi mazhai. the notes ascend from sa to Ri but come down from there so it is still an avaroha prayoga [descent]. Thi s is true of most ragas in karnataka sangeeta
