Hi Folks,
I’m a female from UAE. I would like to learn Malayalam to speak, as I love that language, although I think it’s a very difficult language in pronunciation. I have learned a very little Malayalam from Internet but I don’t have a chance to practice it. So, I can teach anyone Arabic language as long as he/she teaches me Malayalam language, in terms of teaching each other. You can also keep in touch with me by my e-mail.
Thanks in advance

This language can be taught thru emails by the following method
1. Start with letters as done in Kerala. (Ra, ra, ta, na)
2. Show the letters using the Malayalam font (which is to be the same font installed for use in MsWord by the teacher and the taught)
3. Send audio files (simple .wav files) recorded with the correct pronounciation.
4. Ask the student to send back audio files which he/she has practiced.
5. Correct and continue with words, sentences and meanings etc.
The whole thing will take a minimum of 6 months at the rate of roughly 3 emails a week, each containing atleast one audio file.
Let me think and see if I have the time to help you!

Have you seen
http://www.vidyarambham.com/ ?
Despite having always been a duffer at languages I bought the CD when I was in Kerala in August. I think it cost less there than on the site, but it is not very expensive anyway.
One reason vor being a duffer? Lack of discipline/practice. I've looked at it a couple of times only and learnt three or four letters.
My pronouciation of even that much is incomprehensible to my girlfriend who speaks Malayalam:-( No substitute for a real teacher I guess! She understands, but doesn't read/write. It was her mother-tongue, but growing up in Malaysia, so I don't think she would make best teacher.
My motivation for learning is that Kerala is such a wonderful place I'd like to spend a lot more time there. It would make more practical sense for me to learn Tamil or Telegu, as I spend more time with these people here

Dear Ramadas, I’m waiting for your replay : )
I want to learn Malayalam language because I love Kerala State even I didn’t there
before. I saw many pictures about Kerala. It really has an incredible nature (rainy climate, wild life, sandy beaches, coconut trees, rivers) and many many other wonderful things that can give pleasure to my and other peoples’ eyes & mind. Its true that Allah has created the paradise in the earth which is Kerala. So, I want to learn Malayalam language as I love Kerala and I’m planning to travel there as soon as possible to deal with the friendly keralaties easily.
I addition, I already can speak several languages such as English, Hindi & Persian beside my mother tongue “Arabic with all accents & dialects”, as well as I’m willing to add Malayalam language to my list soon.
By the way, there are lots of keralaties residents in the Emirates, so that, I would like to share information and experience with them especially that most of them understand business activities, and that would help me very much in my future as I ‘m a business student.
Nick, there is no doubt that living in Kerala improves the speaking facilities of Malayalam language. but my own problem with your advice is that I’m still a student and don’t have a visa or master card to pay for CDs through Internet. Any way, I would definitely buy one when I will get a card. Thanks a lot : )
