Shyama Sastri composed mainly in praise Goddess Kamakshi.
At one point in his life he visited Pudukottai and offered worship to Goddess Brihadamba there. While at the sanctum sanctorum a stranger accosted Shyama Sastri and bid him visit Madurai and compose in praise of Goddess Minakshi. The composer returned to Tanjavur but forgot the request of the Pudukottai stranger. It is said that the stranger came one day in Shyama Sastri's dream and reminded him of his request. Shyama Sastri then started composing songs on Goddess Minakshi. He composed nine songs on Her and named them Minakshi Navaratnamalika. (BUT Only 7 songs are available) He then visited Madurai and sang the songs before the Goddess.
Only seven out of the nine songs in praise of Minakshi are available. They are:
Minalochana Brova (Dhanyasi),
Sarojadala Netri (Sankarabharanam),
Devi Minanetri (Sankarabharanam),
Devi Nee Padasarasa (Khamboji),
Marivere Gati (Ananda Bhairavi),
Mayamma (Ahiri) and
Nannubrovu Lalita (Lalita).
BUT according to SS minakshi kritis by Vidya Shankar book: (8 songs)
Devi mina netri-Shankarabharana-Adi,
Nannu brova lalita-Lalita-Chapu,
mariveregati-Anandabhairavi- Chapu,
Mayammayani ne-Ahiri-Adi,
Minalochana -Dhanyasi-Chapu,
Rave parvatarajakumari- Kalyani-Jhampa,
Sarojadala netri-Shankarabharana -Adi
Devi shri padasarasamule-Kambhoji-Adi

You are quite correct Meena about Vidya Shankar's book list of songs on Minakshi except that the song in Kambhoji is dEvi nI padasarasarasaulE.

In the previous post the word should read padasarasamulE.
