when u go to carnatic vocal, under the image of thyagaraja, there is a box with 'more carnatic music', where there are things like sangeetha bala padam. etc. Click on bharatha natyam songs. Samiyai aalai-the varnam is in the link 'anuja rajasimhan' and meenakshi thaye is in the link (rajeswari s).

  I don't agree! What is old tamil?? Who divided Tamil into old and new?? See these lines from Sangam Literature and Silapathigaram!

  Which language is not corrupted?? English? Well, Just compare the Indian spoken english with Japanese, American, British english!

  The 'h' you refered is a matter of convenience in transliteration. - thiththikkum. The 'h' occurs in 'th' to represent a Tamil chararacter as in 'thEn' - honey. The 'h' is not sounded here.

  Having more sounds would not solve the 'problem'. Just Tamilising the the sounds of foreign words is quite enough and the practice of Tamil - as in 'Jakarta' was called 'thagaratham' by medieval Tamil. 'vEsham' is 'vEdam'. 'jothi' is 'sOthi'. etc.
  
  Perhaps non=tamils may say that Tamil has inadequate sounds. But Tamils say they have a langauge simple enought to educate and communicate effectively. And the they veiw, with contempt, Languages that borrow heavily in 'phonectics' and vocabulary as immatured!

  Thanks Lakshman for your hard work, and your interesting discussion with Idiappam, which i shall save for later use. Your Too Idiappam. One correction Lakshman, i don't know how this artist sang it, but the most famous artist in Malaysia had came and same it and she sang " mahiSAsuranin tiram, viram seidhAye" instead of "mahiSAsuranin tiram vIzhattiDAyE" Thanks for the rest, i have to review both songs as i sing them, as i sing them, i can only then usually pick up errors. and All the best in other lyrics writing

  Who is the Varnam in Ragamalika in praise of? Lord Muruga, I presume? The song says "Arumukhanai petru." Too bad I cannot dance to it :( ... a "sakhiye" varnam is not suitable for males.

  Dear Lakshman And Umesh,
  
  This song is about Parvathi thinking of her to-become husband Lord Shiva, this is all descriptions of him. Sakhane isn't anywhere on the original, however, it is very common for modifications like this to occur, but this will change the bhava of the song, and the rhythm of the song a little.
