Hi all,
I would like to start a forum for tapes exchange. I have obtained precious music tapes through such exchanges.

I just checked out the links on your website. I thought you had the music files on your website, but you have only links to other sites. That's OK.
But you are still wrong about the other theory. Even if some of the artists are not alive, as long as they are copyrighted recordings, you have to atleast obtain their nearest relative's permission.
Again, look at your posting on this thread dated Oct 27th. You say "I am especially looking for Nithyasree's recordings (modern artist, grand-daughter of DKP), Sowmya (student of S.Ramanathan), Sudha Raghunathan (MLV shishya), MLV, DKP, MSS and KJY. I have a collection that i am willing to share in exchange of course". Even if you exchange copyrighted recordings like this, it is in violiation of the copyright act.
I hope you see the logic behind this fact.

Ah-ha, but my statement seems to be ambiguous, some of these artists who had come and performed had allowed me to give certain tracks, (verbal agreement) to a certain number of people, as for the older artists, the copyright of the concerts no longer exist. Hence, i am not violating any copyright rules whatsoever.

You say "At the moment, i am especially after Nithyasree's Yeppo Varuvaro (compositions of GKB) album, Nithyasree's Gaanamrutham, Nithyasree's Isaiyamutham and Sowmya's Tamil Melodies (Shanmukapriya)". All these are copyrighted recordings.
In copyright act, you must prove that you have the written permission.
You are wrong to think that copyright does not exist for older artists. All the commercial releases of recordings by older artists are copyrighted. Copyright "does not die with the artiste".

I never said it died with the artist however, after 5 or 10 or some number of years according to the copyright act (i can't remember the exact number of years), it will no longer be a copyright recording. And i am sure older artists at least some, have had theirs expired, it just a matter or determining the number of years.

I am slowly losing patience. Copyright can be renewed, for your information. And no company is going to allow their copyright to expire when their albums are selling in the market.
I have a doubt. Are you a 12 year old?

Mr SOmebody, It is not any of my business whether they renewed it or not, i go to what is on the label as i get it, just like everyone else, if they renew it, that is their problem unless they are able to convey it to the former buyer of it. I have a doubt as well, are you a 92 year old krone that is afraid that someone will stalk you?

OK Mr Nishanth, go ahead violate all laws, why should I bother about it. But for god's sake go and learn what copyright is. I still have the doubt you are maybe a 12 year old. Anyway that's the kind of intellectual maturity you possess. Goodbye

Right, let's trade some tapes! This music is too precious and hard-to-find to get caught up in this bullsh*t...hopefully these recordings will outlive all of us and the concept of copywrite itself! I'm looking for tapes of Ustad Amir Khan, Krishnarao Shankar Pandit, Gajananrao Joshi, Aminuddin Dagar, Zia Mohiuddin Dagar and on and on. I have many recordings by all these and more to trade. Email me at Jacobbraverman@yahoo.com Thanks a lot...now lets all rest easy and listen to good music!
