I have learnt that few great composers and musicians had nevercomposed in certain ragas, or
never sung in certain ragas and\or songs. IS there aybody who knows why? is it true that some masters "mortgaged" certain ragas/songs at some point of their lifetime?

I think Dikshatar (MD) has not handled Karaharapriya? !--Not sure of the reason--though.

i am not sure whether kharaharapriya could have withstood the weight of MD.
ofcourse, i do agree that a genius of the like of MD could instil gatthu in any krithi - but i am not sure whether it would have caught his attention :)

HariKamboji mela has also been ignored by all Dikshitars. Both these examples may just be indifference to Tyagaraja's ideas. The converse may be true for prati-madhyama melas Hemavati and Bhusavati !

Just curious. Does Syama Sastry have any kritis in Karaharapriya?

In the melakarta scheme that Dikshitar followed, the 22nd mela was shri, not kharaharapriya. Possibly kharaharapriya was a minor raga during his time and acquired its present stature solely due to tyagaraja's compositions.
