I am doing a speech on the Electric Guitar and how it works. My guitar has 5 switches for pick up to adjust the tone. Does anybody know how this wrks exactly? Is the magnetic field poduced by the pick ups change? Thanks for any responses!

  Probably a little late but... As you move the switch you are actvating/de-activating pickup coils which change the tone. The bridge pickup gives a brighter tone and gets "fatter" as you move towards the neck. You are not adjusting magnetic fields by changing positions however different pickups have different magnetic characteristics.
