Saree is a traditional dress and alongwith its beauty and charm also comes some problems. First wearing it takes longer time compared to other western dresses. There are also good chances that it can get loose and need to be redressed again to look proper.
Also women need to tuck in their handkerchiefs in their waist while wearing saree more like the vast majority of school girls do while they wear their skirts because of no pockets. I did it all my school life. They can carry their handbags but again it is an added discomfort.

  The only explanation for star not being brown but living in india is that he's yellow[It is a common fact all indians are some shade of brown except the manipuri people who are more yellowish].
