I am working in this IT industry. I am very much afraid about this question when it reminds me like nothing is permanent. What u guys/gals are feeling about this? Will this be permanent?

Karthi,
I am sure no one is forcing you to see the monitor all day. Move into another field!!!

My two cents, for what it's worth.....
I don't think you need to worry about IT workers from the former Soviet bloc, most of them were snapped up years ago. I worked in Bulgaria in the mid-90's and well-qualified techies were having no problems finding work in Western Europe and North America.
I'm writing an article on the Indian IT industry and was wondering if you had any insights on caste in the industry. Srini implied that caste made India less competitive. Do you guys think that the caste issue has affected the IT industry in India?
I just got back from three months in U.P., great to see you have lots of Internet cafes now! Last time I was there ('94) there were none. The food is just as good as I remembered, though....
ciao for now,
Sean

Hi,
No need to fear about for the above question,
because,IT is growing up from the almost all death stage.isn't it....
today IT became like a decease.everyone wants it.
but this field is useful for rich people, to learn each IT course we have to spend a lot of money. If we learn one course, we have to get experience on it,next updation course is automatically comes when we are gaining experience in one course.
So poor pepole con't.
So,rich become very rich

Anu, take for example, there is a new language called A++, couple of years ago, C++ / Vb were in Big demand, prior to that Oracle database was in big demand, but now SQL server is big demand, what u have learnt couple of years ago (5 -6) are obsolete now, but some companies still use COBOL :)

Raghu,
After 18 years in the industry I still use COBOL to the full and am proud and enjoy it. The other one I enjoy is C. Both these languages will never vanish!

Anu;
If u do not mind me asking, what field in IT do you work in, VB 6? cos, I thought, it may be useful, if we all share our IT knowledge in this thread or we can start a thread, where we posts query's and exchange answers, like we do in IT related discussion hubs!
