Tamizharasan
Thanks for starting this thread. It is pathetic to see that not many responses to this thread. That itself indicates how much we remember this great soul. But I will definitely keep posting on this thread. The message that he left is indelible. We require Gandhi to come back to this earth to solve existing problems

Do you really think this is the absolute answer?

In light of what I said above, do you really think this is the absolute answer?

There was a problem. here is the missing bit:
I did attempt to do a post which could have been the first on this thread, but I hesitated for some reasons. I first questioned whether it was right for Ghandhiji's non-violence policies being exploited time and again and whether in such instances, we should see his policies as relevant while I am very much for Ghandi's non-violence polices. So things were not really clear in my mind.
Thinking about it again, I feel that what one should not loose sight of, is that although Ghandi was for non-violence, he also ensured that the oppressors in close PROXIMITY (they were directly in India), left Indian.
Today, we still have the oppressors operating only through a different mode and they are in less direct Proximity. So while they are able to still oppress, it has become more difficult to get rid of them. What makes it worse, they are able to do this while exploiting Ghandi's non-violence policies which can really put one one FIRE.
So Tamizharasan when you say:
>>In the era of violence and turmoil, they only solution is Gandhi's thought. <<
In light of what I said above, do you really think this is the absolute answer?

Correction:
a) para 2. should be ...policies to be exploied b) para 3. left India
c) para 4. ..put one on Fire.

I am not very clear about your postings. But anyway what I think is non-violence is the solution for today's problems. See the attack of world trade center and attack on Iraq by USA, all are violent activities and could have been easily avoided. Please present your ideas more clearly so that we can discuss in detail.

There are two posts from someone called 'son of India' on another thread on FH. I can't remember what thread that was. I told him I agree with his posts, they are in relation to the same points I made above. If you read them (from son of India), it would help to see my points more clear.

Tamizharasan,
Here is the thread: hinduism's effect on the world

One thing should be made clear. Hinduism isn't a religion. Its a culture and Iam proud of it. Thankfully it doesn't preach violence against innocent people. Those who commit violence against innocent people aren't hindus but the bad people should be stopped so violence applies in this case or else if you keep quiet the enemy would take you out.

Also Jainism and Buddhism preaches non-violence but evil men took advantage of their non-violence stance. This is where the warrior of good should fight the evil men to defend the peaceful brothers who love peace.

Kalari,
I like both of your posts. Quite logical.

Good points. Non violence should be followed by everyone otherwise it does not make sense.

Once sombody asked Gandhiji whether non-violence can be followed with Hitler.Gandhiji said yes it can be followed with hitler too but you have to make him understand that he is doing wrong thing.
