I salute Superstar Rajinikanth for suggesting and implementing the FAST in Chennai in a silent manner.

Not only cine personnels supported this protest but also the Rajini fans, politicians, farmers, social activity Association and PUBLIC.

This protest has no politics involvement and no condeming anyone unlike Neyvelli protest.

I pray god for the Cauvery water to be released without any further delay.

  I just remember 4th and 5th of October, and how terrified these 'thondars' of their 'thalaivar', hid in their deep - rat holes!, afraid of even coming out once, when 'effigies' of their 'thalaivar' being burnt all over Thamizhnadu.
  
  I thought Kalaignar was writing 'uRai' just for 'TholKappiyam'....Nay Nay...he may also be writing uRai for 'MachiaVelliam'!...
  
  The 'Party' has just begun!...whoever thinks that they have mastered the Art of Thamizhnadu Politics would soon realise it's a huge, complex and dangerous maze!

  when will u guys stop vicarious dreaming..... be ur own master , dont let other to be ur master/hero.... awarness on conservation of environment to save our earth can only be the right solution for entire dispute.. whether it is cauvery or earthquake.. whatever.... plant greens.. that could save the environment.... instead of dreaming/wandering behing boogie woogie boommmmmm filmies.... u guys just made a bus conductor to superstar.... why dont u guys think of urself/ur people....

  Rajnikant to start people's movement

  CHENNAI OCT. 30. While denying that he had any desire to see himself as a "political leader or statesman,'' the film star, Rajnikant, today unveiled plans to start a "people's movement'' on the Cauvery issue and highlight the need for interlinking Himalayan and peninsular rivers.
  
  Making it clear that he did not want any "publicity or political mileage'' from the Cauvery issue, Mr. Rajnikant, at the same time, expressed his intention of meeting the President, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the Prime Minister, Atal Behari Vajpayee, the Congress leader, Sonia Gandhi, and the Chief Ministers of the four southern States, including Tamil Nadu's Jayalalithaa, to build up political support for interlinking of rivers.
  
  Claiming that he had received a "tremendous response'' to his fast on the Cauvery issue and his offer of Rs. 1 crore towards the interlinking project, Mr. Rajnikant, in an interview to The Hindu, said he wanted to create an awareness among the people of the issue.
  
  Politicians were not interested in thinking beyond an election. They did not have a vision for even five years — just for "three or four years'' — he said. Thus, there was need for persons like him stepping in: Persons who did not have a political plank and who could talk to leaders of different political parties.
  
  Interlinking of rivers would not take more than 11 or 12 years. The project could be completed at a cost of Rs.75,000 crores, at the most at Rs. 1 lakh crores. Noting that interlinking would be beneficial to all the States, he wondered why it had not been taken up so far. "Money is not a problem,'' he said. "Don't give it as an excuse.'' After his announcement offering Rs. 1 crore for the project, a small-scale industrialist sent in a cheque for Rs. 10 lakhs for the cause, recalled Mr. Rajnikant.
  
  And, he saw a role for himself in getting the project in the start-up mode. But, in his trademark humility, the film star added: "Only God can do things. But I can initiate awareness.'' Whatever his differences of opinion with Ms. Jayalalithaa, he did not envisage any difficulty in getting her to accept the project. "She is facing problems now. But it is in the interest of everybody. She will be for it.''
  
  Mr. Rajnikant said he was already in touch with the Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh Chief Ministers, S. M. Krishna and Chandrababu Naidu. He would also involve the former Prime Ministers, Deve Gowda and P. V. Narasimha Rao. "One who rules the waters, rules the world,'' the actor said, explaining his optimism that it would be possible to get the project going with the backing of politicians. The States which benefited from the project could share the cost. It could also generate employment for thousands of people.
  
  Showing his impatience with those offering excuses for not going ahead with the project, Mr. Rajnikant said: "Do it. We have to act.'' As a first step, he would plead for formation of a statutory `Peninsular River Development Authority,' by an Act of Parliament. Direct linking of the Ganga and the Cauvery was not possible, but once the southern rivers were interlinked, the Himalayan rivers too could be linked and connected with the south through the Mahanadi and the Godavari, he said. Noting that pressure was building up from all sides for launching the project, Mr. Rajnikant said there was need to seize this moment. The BJP president, M. Venkaiah Naidu, too was planning to take a delegation to meet the Prime Minister on the issue, he pointed out.
