  I can't actually post an answer which can stastically say that one particular gender gets cheated on more..
  But I would like to clear the common misconception that all males are cheaters...
  Just because certain males are PLAYBOY type guys who hang around with a lot of girls, just for the physical aspect of it, and then slowly change girlfriends like cards, it is unfair and unjust to stereotype the entire male community as cheaters.
  
  Just keep in mind that there are a lot of glamorous girls who are A grade flirts as well. Such characters just spend some time with a guy, enjoy, make the guy spend all his money, and then move on to another guy.
  
  Just because of that categorizing all women as flirts, is totally wrong as well.
  
  Coming to the topic of recovering from love failure, I can definitely say that guys take it very hard too,
  I have seen so many guys who studied with me, who liked a member of the opposite sex, spent all their time and resources on a girl, and then when the girl says 'no' and dumps them, they are mentally destroyed....
  It takes a looong time to recover..... In fact some of them, after 6months to 1 year still keep wondering about the same girl..............
  
  Women are catogerized as the weaker sex traditionally..... But trust me so many guys I know, the Macho attitude, Tough guy looks, are just a weak shell for a weak state of mind.
  
  I have gone out of topic in voicing my opinions, but considering the mentality of so many people here(who i do not wish to name), I'm sure they would do well to think twice about what I have said above....

  IN love both tend to generate the plus point of each others
  say all stupid things do all the stupid things {writing his\her luver name in blood and havin the name burnt in their arms etc}
  when all the good and plus points dry up they show the other side of theirs, then the ego, then the break up, and again start lookin for nother greener pasture...
  and,most of theluv marriage ends up in divorce within 5 years others live with it.....
  when i asked my friend machi intha luv eppo mudiyum he said in marriage. after that?..!!
  
  in luv both cheat each other there is no understanding mutually it is the adjustments and tolerance that dies when the girl or boy gets cheated it is always male
