We can now see a lot of NRIs involving and sponsoring community developement projects back home in India.
But the involvement of local youth seems to be very less.. Why is it so?
Are these youths busy doing "OTHER" things? Or is the values in our society is coming down?

of activities... here the work is MUST... rest is

Sorry I did not get you... Are you saying employed youth should not contribute to the society.... Even if only UnEmployed Youth do this special work, then is it NOT work... Work is Must Rest is Next.. So you mean to say doing commendable social Work in hard conditions is REST and working for 8 hrs under normal circumstances (except few type of work) is WORK... Please Clarify

There is no sense of community responsibility and citizenship in our youth in India. There is no income benefits also and in India youth is expected to work for income generation while social work is for people who lose the power to generate money or have loads to spare to gain name and fame! Hard facts?but true.

I run a mile from person who calls him / her a social worker.
And who is community? The shop keeper who cheats even on the baby food. The doctor who lets a patient die because he has booze party to attend? The auto driver who takes me for a ride? The govt official and beaurocrats deny what is my legitamate to me because I haven't paid up the bribe? The next door neighbour who steals my water pipe? Whom do I owe anything?
The greatest community service that one can do is to do his work sincerely and honestly what ever he is doing. We don't need any "social worker".
