I've heard that there were tattooing traditions in rural india. Are they still exist?

Both me and my wife have a great interest about tattooing and both of us have tattoos. My wife has tribal anklets tattooed on both her ankles an I've got several tattoos including an armband. They were done by professional tattooists in tattoo parlors. We like to know about traditional tattooing in rural india.

im extremely interested in tattoing..... i do temporary ones on myself with paints and markers.... but they have certain drawbacks, like they get washed off too soon, i cant tattoo my right arm because i draw with my right, and other limitations like that.....
if anybody can provide me with information on how i can make them last longer, and if i can find any tattoo parlors in pune or mumnai, please contact me at converse_theorem@yahoo.com
