Srini,
I too should have simply asked like this "Srini:Why this ‘Why this’ ".
Sometimes you cant bend the dogs tail. Can you? So am I and so you are.
Let me take your pendulam example from some other thread. At the outset the pendulam may look like swinging between a point A to point B in a straight line with A and B as extreme points. But if you carefully look at it, you might find that it is actually following a elliptical path. Each point in that path may have its own opposite extreme points and you cannot forcefed whatever you see/you derive in your 2d vision into those n number of points in that elliptical path. Also a single unidirectional constant gravitational field forces the pendulam to exhibit that path. Imagine a scenario where there is more than one, varying force fileds act on your favorite pendulam. How do you define or pin point a middle point on the path of that pendulam? Tell me this. I will tell you why this.

GD: Fine. So, solutions are evasive; Let second-law of thermodynamics rule the roost (ever increasing entropy) ! I am out to sink. Bye.

Reconciliation/middlepath is not the solution to some problems. On the ground, a zero-tolerance may be impossible to implement (like 100 % eradication of small-pox) where it concerns human behaviour, but zero-tolerance is the only way to minimise the problem.
