HI people? Do you really feel that Bangalore is really the place to be? Does it deserve to be what it is today? With a fanatic CM who wants to develop it on the lines of Singapore, while the rest of the state(Well at least the most of it) becomes BIHAR, I honestly feel this chap Krishna, is the worst CM K'nataka has had! What do you think?

Well....well..I guess there is nothing wrong with the way bangalore is booming. It would be better if the glitz and wealth generated in this hi-tech city were to percolate into the interiors of the state. This situation is EVEN WORSE in hyderabad..with some villages living in the stone age while the CM claims to make AP a progessive state.

HI
SM Krishna is okay but it is the filthiest other ministers and kannada chauvnists who oppose english name and number boards in parallel to kannada even though it is boasting of a silicon valley of india and hi-tech city. Minds of KSRTC's rotten officials are still in stone age. They want to send team to find out whether bi-lingual boards are in use in other states. Then on the opposition of kannada organisations, they withdraw the move. How shameful it is. KSRTC right now introduce bilingual name boards as it is being done in Chennai and Hyderabad (only in capital city)

What Maharaja pal? U talking abt that Wadeyar or Tipu? In that case, neither were from B'lore.
And for that Kempe Gouda, if U cal him a king, its equivalent of calling an earthworm a python.
If U talk abt. cleanliness, I guess U hav'nt come across a locality called MAJESTIC.

but you have to remeber it "is" cleaner then most.
-I don't care about mysore.
Though I don't live there I was impressed by it...
and the temp was not too hot or cold
NO I haven't come across majestic.

People from TamilNadu always have the habit of making fun of others. They think Tamil Nadu is the best in everything. Chennai is stinking and toooo crowded. Other places are worse. Bangalore is highly developed and other places may not be developed but has a good green cover and not very crowded. In short, you dont see concrete jungles that stink in Karnataka, the least exploited State in India. Just travel from Madras to Bangalore and you see in how many places you come across stink emenating from tannaries...that is Tamil Nadu and its so called industrialization.

You are just partially right.

To each his own
The worst part is people in other states are prejudiced too... they don't realise it, thats it.
Actually TN people donot care about how their cities look like.
So where is the question of making fun of others??
You are present in a South Indian forum that's why you get such impressions.

For ur kind info. I started the thread and I dont belong to TN. I was born and brought up in K'Nataka. I have a lot of respect for the people of the state but not fot bangalore city.
And for those people suggesting I see BBC, I advice U pay a visit to North K'taka and U wouldnt realise It is the same state whose capital is B'lore. About 10 years back there was afull fledged airport in Belgaum, now its almost down, there were industries run by entrepreneurs in Belgaum and Shimoga, but due to lack of foresight and impartiality, most of them are now closed down.
With no employment opportunity in their own districts, skilled and unskilled labour are now moving to B'lore. It wouldnt surprise me if in the near future Blore would have another DHARAVI instead of Singapore.

First of all we have to understand one thing.Rome was not built in one day.Cities where good infrastructure and human resource exists might develop first. But perculation into deep interior will take sometime. For example Coimbatore developed into an industrial hub first and now this has been perculated to near by towns of Pollachi, pallakkad, thirupur in a matter of years. So don't worry for only BANGALORE is shining but it will take sometime for the whole karnataka to shine if good political governance exists.

Church May Need Loan to Pay Victims
AP ^ | 5/5/02 | AP
BOSTON- The Archdiocese of Boston may mortgage church real estate to raise tens of millions of dollars needed for a global settlement with alleged victims of clergy sexual abuse, according to the archdiocese's chief financial officer.
Chancellor David W. Smith told the Boston Sunday Globe that it will take months to determine how much will be needed to finance such a fund.
He declined to estimate the potential size of the "non-litigious global assistance fund," saying that the archdiocese must first estimate the number of new claims and the extent of insurance coverage.
The possibility of mortgaging real estate is one scenario that has emerged since the archdiocese decided Friday to pull out of a settlement with 86 alleged abuse victims of former priest John J. Geoghan.
Cardinal Bernard Law's Finance Council refused Law's request to sign the Geoghan settlement, estimated to be worth $15 million to $30 million, saying it would leave too little money for people making future claims.
The rejection, the first time the council has rejected one of Law's requests, stunned victims' advocates and spurred promises of legal retaliation from attorneys representing accusers.
Attorney Mitchell Garabedian, who negotiated the $15 million to $30 million settlement for 86 clients, said he will ask a judge to approve a swift deposition of Law. He also said he is exploring suing the church for breach of contract.
The agreement was reached in March after 11 months of negotiations.
The Boston archdiocese already has paid an estimated $15 million to 40 alleged Geoghan victims.
The Geoghan lawsuits sparked the archdiocese's abuse scandal. Geoghan is serving a 9- to 10-year sentence after being convicted of molesting a 10-year-old boy.
An advisor to Law said that the Finance Council members concluded that the settlement's $400,000 per victim would set a precedent that the archdiocese could not afford as new victims emerge.
The unnamed adviser told the Globe that the council wants to avoid selling high-profile real estate, such as the cardinal's residence and chancery in Brighton, or Pope John XXIII Seminary in Weston.
Smith said the archdiocese instead hopes to mortgage other real estate holdings, dip into an insurance reserve, and raise additional funds through donations.
