Most of the people we find in India, atleast in South, are right handers...I feel it is because left-handers are never encouraged and even a left-handed child is forced to be right-handed. Left hand is always considered secondary, inauspicious, sinister and unhygienic..

When a natural left-hander (who might have never realized it, due to constant discouragement) is brought up as a right-hander, does he lose some of his natural, inborn talents (e.g.,artistic) and retard his progress? Or, is that just okay?

  On literature:
  I think creative writing is really the epitome of left and right brain use. Perhaps this is why Indian society thinks this is the greatest feat. I agree.
  
  Besides literature, abstract mathematics, theoretical physics, and original research...all involving abstract thinking brings in the right brain's higher cognitive abilities into the left hemisphere domain and keeps such work at a higher intellectual level.

  I believe that both right and left handers are or can be equally intelligent and artistic.For example:my friends-Erica and Heather- are both painters and they get straight A's in colledge.
  (Erica is a rightie and Heather is a lefty)
  So I know for a fact that there is no difference between right and left handers intelligence wise.

  I think it is terrible how people try to force natural lefties to be righties. this happened to my brother at school, he was a leftie and he was forced rightie. he never liked school, and the nuns would hit him when he went to pick up a pencil with his left hand. then there is confusion in the brain. please send me any information on the damage done by that process.

  Indians wash their butt with left hand. This is one of the main reasons lefties are not encouraged to eat food with their left hand.
