I grew up in the US, but I can't stand white meat. In my opinion, white meat doesn't even come close to chicken curry, because of the lack of spices (in white meat). The interesting is that, in my experience, I've found even Westerners to prefer hot, spicy curries over their milder Western equivalents.

Newsflash: Chicken (meat) falls under the category of white meat. Pork is the *other* white meat.

Yeah, I was referring to the Southeast Asian variety of "white meat" which is not exactly white after you've seasoned, tempered, marinated, or a host of other things and added various spices to it. I guess you wouldn't know that since you're a vegeterian, but notice, I'm not going to write "newsflash" and hold it against you.

Expat,
"Yeah, I was referring to the Southeast Asian variety of "white meat" which is not exactly white after you've seasoned, tempered, marinated, or a host of other things and added various spices to it."
Do you know anything about cooking? Shouldn't those overpriced colleges (or is it a university) teach u about it? Do you think the Westerners do not "season, temper, marinate" their meat? No matter how you cook the chicken meat, it falls under the "white meat" category. It's like saying that after you season, temper and marinate potatoes, it is no longer a vegetable.
What I gather from your posts is that you are talking about different types of cuisines. So you like the way chicken is prepared in Southeast Asia compared to western cooking. Say it as such. It is not the same as saying "white meat doesn't come close to chicken curry" because as I had said chicken is white meat.
"I guess you wouldn't know that since you're a vegeterian..."
I have never said anywhere that I'm a vegetarian. I consume eggs, milk, dairy products, chicken and seafood. That makes me a lacto-eggo/chicken-seafood vegetarian.

Tamil Babe:
I was referring entirely to the color of the meat and not the meat itself. If you have any proof to show that I was saying otherwise, don't hesitate.
Newsflash: I'm right, you're wrong

Just read your own statement. There's ample "proof" in the following words. "In my opinion, white meat doesn't even come close to chicken curry"
"Newsflash:...."
What a Biter! Can't find your own style?
P.S. - It's spelled coloUr. Americans destroying the English language. Tsk tsk!! ;)

Nope. I said chicken is white meat. Better check with your Ivy League schools and see that it is indeed white meat.

Yes, you're right, you said it so nicely, I'll hold my breath on that one...
No, I don't go to an Ivy School. Don't ask me why, 'cause I ask myself everyday, and still don't know why, so really I can't tell YOU why...
Anyway, just of curiosity, are you a lawyer/attorney by any chance?

Nope. But I've been told that I should pursue that field. LOL!!

hey hey u misguided doul & TB. this topic is all about westernisation of everything .i meant it has affected our everyday life.it doesnt restrict itself to white meat and all that stuff.
i meant our dosa is better and nutritious than the italian pizza
hey,u go to a pakka village anywhere in india and people there offer u coffee/tea without milk bcoz the milk was over, then u fuss around complaining, but if u are in a coffee pub or something like that then u go all the way and order for urself black coffee paying nearly RS.60 or 70.
and wat better is the burger.it's just 2 rupiya ooty bun with leaves or meat inbetween for which people pay Rs 40 or so.
this is the topic,so friends do not divert frm this topic

i thought caucasians were the "other" white meat

on: Tue Feb 26 06:14:13
Tamil kirukku,
"i meant our dosa is better and nutritious than the italian pizza "
Explain to me how the DOSA is NUTRITIOUS than PIZZA. Pizza contains dairy, vegetables, flour, etc. - each that provide different nutrients that the body needs. Dosa is just a mixture of fermented lentils made with oil/butter. How's that giving me the necessary nutrients than a pizza?
indio,
"i thought caucasians were the "other" white meat"
If Caucasians were the "other" white meat, then who is the white meat?

"In my opinion, white meat doesn't even come close to chicken curry"
TB- I had interpreted that as a preference for the S. Asian female as opposed to a Caucasian chica.
"then who is the white meat?"
Chicken, fish.. anything except for beef & pork (& mutton too probably).
"But I've been told that I should pursue that field."
I got a better one for you. In the classifieds I read about a wizard or someone looking for an imp to help him (or her) carry out evil plots. We can glue some wings on you, smudge some gunk on your face and presto!
Question: Why do you call yourself Tamil Babe? Why not Indian Babe or Canadian Babe?
"What a Biter!"
Biter? What the hell is that? Some kind of deranged Anglo sort of shot?
"It's spelled coloUr. Americans destroying the English language. Tsk tsk!! ;)"
And now it's c-o-l-o-r. Who needs stuffy English guff when there's AMERICAN language?

Nisala,

Did you miss the "who" in my question?
"Question: Why do you call yourself Tamil Babe? Why not Indian Babe or Canadian Babe? "
TB sounds dangerous. LOL!!
"And now it's c-o-l-o-r."
Only in USA.
"Who needs stuffy English guff when there's AMERICAN language? "
Ya make a few changes to some words in the English language and then call it a new language. LOL. A potato whether baked or fried is still a potato. You know what I'm sayin?

"Did you miss the "who" in my question?"
And did you miss the answer? If I'm not mistaken, even in the Tamil language animals are assigned gender as opposed to neuter in the conjugation!
"And now it's c-o-l-o-r."
"Only in USA."
Yeah, but everyone in the world comes to the US so that's the same thing as saying everyone follows it.
"Ya make a few changes to some words in the English language and then call it a new language. LOL. A potato whether baked or fried is still a potato. You know what I'm sayin?"
Oh, so NOW you're willing to compromise only after I prove the superiority of the language in the US. Maybe if you acknowledge the inferiority of the metric system compared to the... whatever the system that the US has I will consider your offer.

Nothing wrong in trying or peeping into
varied food culture. When we ape westerners
in other things (which may or may not be necessary), food is the last thing to worry about.
We have their, language, their way of clothing,
Feel happy if some of our relations go abroad
and earn in $$$s or marks or as the case may be
and all we need to worry is why pizza or burger
is in vogue?
From health point of view
I also do wonder how much of health is there in
some products of ours like CRISP DOSA WITH OIL
AND JUST CHUTNEY (MIND U NO VEGETABLES) or idli
with chutney (again no vegs or fruits)
Each has its own nutritious contents, and excess
of anything is bad for health . As long we stay in
balanced diet, eating anything is not a problem.
TAMILKIRUKKU,
"THE WORLD IS ONE GREAT FLOCK OF SHEEP.IF ONE FALLS INTO THE DITCH,THE REST FOLLOW IN."
If aping any culture is falling in ditch, then we
had done that long back, when we started dressing like them, and again when u and me are talking here something other than tamil or hindi.
Human mentality (of masses), (OFcourse some of us do think, some of us rebel with reason) is to follow a sheep, not necessarily in aping western, but also in many national and regional issues.
