Dear friends,

Latha is an aspiring young lady in need of immediate medical help. Her story is heart rending. She lives in Triplicane, Chennai. I have asked my friend (Vidyasagar) to find out her address and he's already talking to her doctors. Will post her address here as soon as I get it.
In the meanwhile, thought of driving a fund raising program to help her family in proceeding with her surgery. 'Kumudam' will be approached to publish the names of persons who helped in the endeavor (as acknowledged by the family to have received the money from).

  Will you atleast mention what she is suffering from before you request donations without even giving basic details. The persons who are inclined to help can atleast see if they can use their other resources in some other way if they cannot help financially.

  Oh, I'm sorry! I assumed you must be able to read that article in the Kumudam magazine issue dt. Feb 04, 2002.
  
  Latha is suffering from Kidneys failure. Yes, both of her kidneys have failed and she's undergoing dialysis since 1998.
  
  The delay of the surgery was due to many factors like not being able to find a donor, then finding a donor (her father himself) and later finding that he was not fit enough to undergo the surgery, not being able to round up enough money all at once to perform the surgery. Now they have the donor ready but having spent all the money in these 3 years, they are helpless again!
  
  Now that the issue came to the public notice, they have started to get help. Still it would be great if we could summon up even more money in order to take care of her post-surgery expenses.
  
  In all it takes about 2.5 lakhs to perform the surgery and the post-surgery monitoring.
  
  From what I heard from my friend Vidyasager last, she's been scheduled to be admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, Feb 6, 2002 to initiate the pre-surgery procedures.
