Hi,
Why is Murasoli Maran still clinging to the post of a minister ? I mean, agreed we want him to recover soon and all that.
His current health situation doesn't permit him to discharge his duties as a minister. In such a case, why don't he resign ? If he is unconscious to do so, why not the people who run his party do so on his behalf ?
What I think is that, Karunanidhi won't do it because, if Maran wasn't a (namesake) minister, Karunanidhi would have to pay the medical bill for Maran's treatment in Houston; but now the (Ilichavai) people/government are footing his bill.
All this, while thousands of poor people suffer in ill-managed Govt. Hospitals. I've seen it first hand day after day.
What's your take on this ?

The great swadesh BJP needs DMK support. BJP and its group will do anything for power.
Our ilichavayee Hindus, muslims and others are unnecessarily fighting each other for these useles politicians.

The same story was applicable to MGR as well.
But later all the expenses where paid back to
the Government which was collected from the
public as donation. The same story is applicable to Maran as well. He is not a very poor guy. And even if he has to spend more than what he has, there are thousands of comrades who are willing to pay back the money. Dont worry about the money now.
But it is a serious concern what the department of
commerce is doing without him. If it needs a person desperately there is nothing wrong in replacing him. It is in PM's hands to take up any decisions.

I agree with your point regarding MGR.
However, in Murasoli's case, keeping the money issue apart, which (hopefully) his comrades will bear it for him, why is he still made to cling to the post of a minister ?
I mean, what's the point of him still being a minister, if his health prevents him from working for the people he is supposed to represent ?
Pardon my ignorance, but why Houston instead of AIIMS or Apollo or Mallaya or RM Lohia etc?
What message does that convey to an average citizen ?
