can any one tell about what this stemcell research is all about and.. what does it mean? please explain in simple terms..

  I have lost most of my family to cancer. I only wish that they where here today. Stem cell research could save many lives. Lives of innocent children that havent experienced anything except chemotherapy and the inside of a hospital. Just think about the children of the future!

  I have many relatives, with different medical problems (parkinsons etc.), that would benefit from stem cell research but I still find this a difficult decision. I firmly believe this is a baby, not will become a baby. A pile of wood from a lumber yard may become a deck, or what ever you choose, but this is already a baby. We have seen the pictures of "embryo's" holding the doctors finger as they are being operated on while still in the mothers womb. How can we destroy that miracle without paying for it somewhere in the future. As I said, I'm torn, I would love to see this promise come to fruition if only it could come from some way other then destroying the BABY.

  From what I understand the embryo's used are taken from 1 of many frozen from a couple trying to have children and no longer needs/wants them.
  Wouldn't disposing of them be just as harsh as aborting them? Why not use them for something positive. Please educate me on this procedure.

  I have a son with Schizophrenia. If brain chemicals in Parkinson's,such as dopamine, are targeted in stem cell research then isn't there hope that diseases like schizophrenia can be cured since the same brain chemicals are affected?

  Keeping in mind that the main reason there hasn't been much discovery via a fetus's stem cells is because there is little ability to do much research on it. Women will abort. Abortions should have something positive about them. Its not about the rights of the women or their children. Its about the furthering of our knowledge and helping those around them who ALREADY HAVE LIVES TO LIVE.
