Can any one explain the rasons behind wearing
Metti (siththu) in leg fingers and Mookuththi
by females ? Is there a medical reason ?
I read somewhere that the nerve that ends on the
leg finger is responsible for some body control
which is done by Metti and the same with mookkuththi.
Experts/knowledgeable in this area - please clarify.
thanks
Mahesh

Mookuthi,
More for acupunture effect.
Metti,
I guess worn for medicinal values of silver. Second toe represents nasal nerve endings.
Also, any man could find out, whether the woman
is married or not, by just looking at their feet. If metti, is worn, its decency on their part not to look at the face. (i.e. the idea is she belongs to somebody).I guess these were practised in olden days. Men used to wear metti too for the similar reasons, obviously.

Is it wrong for a married woman to wear only one minji?
