Income tax is immoral, evil and illegal. What right the govt has to impose income tax? Ask any school student what does he expect when he comes first in the class or if he wins a runnig race or wins a quiz competition. He is bound to say awards, appreciation and accolades. Instead if you tell that since he came in the first he has to pay a fine and since he won the running race he has to undergo punishment of standing outside the clasee and since he won a competition he will be penalized by kneeling in the verandah, what will the student's reaction be?
Income tax is exactly that!! one works hard, toiling and sweating - both the brain and the body and earns money. (I am not talking about those who make money by corruption, criminal acts, legislative favors and by force and other illegal means). The more you work hard and the more value you add the more money you earn. The reward - you have to pay extortion to the govt in the name of income tax. Arrogant 2 bit bureaucrats will ask you all sorts of questions and always 'arrest' will be looming large at you. Is this right? is this justice? is this morality. You are being punished for being good, you are being penalized for ability. Nothing is more monstrous than this, nothing is more evil that this, nothing is more barbaric than this. The fact that all countries have income tax does not mean that its correct. Corruption is universal and that does not make it right. Income tax is trampling individual rights, its a gross violation of human dignity and a blotch on humanity. Income tax should go lock, stock and barrel.

StG,
You seem to suggest that it would be better to live in a forest where animals do not pay tax.
Are you against the Governments? If there is no tax, there is no Government then.

I know many people would jump to that conclusion and for your info income tax came into being only 45 years back and in the USA only in 1930 and there is no income tax in saudi arabia, UAE, bahrain, qatar and so many other countries. I think you equate taxation only with income tax and income tax in india constitutes only about 8-10% of the revenue receipts. Excise and customs account for more than 50% of our revenue. (that I am against all taxation is a different issue)
Ok now I will speak your lingo? why does the govt needs so much money? to have 20 cars zipping when the chief minister goes here and there and I dont have to tell about the thousands of crores going down the drain for the so called ias and ips officers comfort. Do you know that the govt started a company called haldia fertilizers and till day spent 1410 and odd crores and to date has not produced a SINGLE gram of fertilizer? whose money ? yours and mine. Many people do not know that thousands of crores are going into a big hole called NGO aid which never returns and not a single paise is seen or accounted for ( the CAG's annual statment is just that). Now who is the govt to run railways, hotels, airways, buses, mines, spinning mills and so on? what right it has - NONE. By passing all sorts of illegal laws and by use of threat of force the govt has encroached and trampled individual rights and is fleecing and extorting the hapless and innocent public. THe duty of the govt is to govern the people and crack down on crime - not to run teashops, bread factories and all such ventures which is illegal, immoral and evil. The discussion of mans rights and the nature of govt is a huge topic on which volumes can be written and may be I will do it here in the days to come. In the mean time think hard about the whole issue and dont blindly say its right just because everyone says so generally.
One small example. Now the income tax limit is 50000. there might be 1 crore people who are earning between 40,000 and 50,000. Now if jaswant singh reduces the income tax limit to 40,000 ( which he can as he wishes according to you guys) then effectively he has manufactured 1 crore criminals as none of those guys will pay ( unless they are are helpless salaried class). Anything can be passed as law and thats it. continue later
