Add coffee or tea decoction, to the henna mixture if u want nice auburn or dark brown colouring.
mix it with water, and keep it over night in an iron bowl. (Over night is preferred)
Apply it with application brush, (part ur hair into sections, and apply in each section with the brush)
Leave it for atleast 2 to 3 hours for deep colouring, if u have tendency to catch cold, drink tepid or hot water, or drinks two to three times when henna is applied and after u wash ur hair.

Shakthi,
I am wondering, if u can help me, I have an extremely dry skin, esp. my hands, even if I put hand cream it dries out very quickly, leaving with cracks in my skin, it is quite painful an unpleasant to look at any suggestions? i.e. in terms of diet, I am a vegetarian, so I don't eat fish, which has all the essential vitamins for a healthy skin, any alternatives?
Thanks

Raghu,
I dont know how much this would work.....
try applying, milk cream ( paaal aadai) on ur palms and leave it for an hour or so...........
try it for some weeks...see if u have any good results.
Consult skin specialist.
apply castor oil, or badam oil ...that may work too

mr,
once a month or fortnightly is sufficient
cold water would do...
BEST SOLUTION IS
go to a beauty parlour first time,
see how they do
u can continue subsequently....

Hi,
I've been applying henna for the past 3-4 yrs. Initially I use to go once in 4-6 weeks to a salon. I find it quite expensive as gradually I had to go monthly. The salons charge about $30-$40 depending on the hair length. I starting do it myself & spend about $10 per month. Now I have to do every weekend bec of the grey hair growing at a rapid rate, about 0.2 in.
Suggestion: pls apply oil to your hair 1st otherwise henna tends to dry the hair & hair will become freezy.
Somehow I cannot get the deep brown colour. Can idea how to get the dark brown.

shakti,
thanks thats an excellent tip,to visit beauty salon first.
mekhala,
I read, and also shakthi suggested the same tea/coffee decoction, gives the deep color.
Do the salon also apply oil before the application of henna?

mekhala,
yeah application of oil is a must, to avoid dryness.
"Somehow I cannot get the deep brown colour. Can idea how to get the dark brown. "<<<<<<<<<
Henna over a period of time, would turn ur hair dark brown. This ofcourse depends on the texture and basic color of ur hair. If its already brownish black hair, colouring would happen fast. Try mixing lot of coffee or tea decoction to get deep colour
If u are too particular to color ur hair, try colouring chemically! (That again, would lead to hair loss on longer period of time due to chemicals)
Ask sugestions from ur beauty salon!
MR,
ask the beauty salon to apply oil then i guess they may do it. (I dont know the procedures in the country where u reside). In any case, do take ur oil (the regular one u apply..(DO NOT CHANGE OR LET THEM USE THEIR OIL! IT MAY LEAD TO HAIR FALL)

raghu,
Comin to think of it, I think u mentioned in one of the threads about ur obsession to clean ur palms very often.
In case u also use bath soap to clean ur palms, this might have led to dryness. Try using soaps with moisturisers or use moisturising cream while washing ur hand.
