If u want to make sure that u get good political leaders, please, VOTE. Make your choice based on what good the person will do for the country, instead of voting for the person who's of the same society, caste or religion as yourself.
A note to educated people: You make up the majority of the people who do not vote. Education is not just to provide u with bread and butter.
Education should broaden your awareness. It is not just about yourself that you should be living for, but also for the society. Don't just always keep thinking about yourself and your family..... think about your country... the solution is never to run away from india, looking for greener pastures.... the solution is to eradicate the problems we have to build a better india... and if that means to have better leaders, then VOTE.... please... because it is YOUR RIGHT...

We are a democracy.... we have freedom... but how often it is misused!
There should be certain criteria for a person to enter politics, which we do NOT have in india.
The two main ones I can think of:
1. A person with criminal records should not be allowed into politics.
2. There should be a certain minimum level of education attained by any candidate running in elections.

Educated people are spoiling our politics by not giving their valuable votes. If the polling percentage increases, then defenetely we will get clean politics with clean politicians.
We must encourage the leaders lile M.S.Suwaminathan, M.S.Vuthayamoorthy...etc.
Keep it up Mr.Milton.

it's always ADMK, DMK, BJP, CONGRESS it never changes. Come on ppl,(eg. this election you vote for DMK. They do good n nasty things, next election you vote for ADMK because DMK was not up to standred then ADMK goes bad. you vote for DMK)What's the point, they're both doing bad things and yet u vote for them. What we need is the leadership to change always not one leader for one party. New candiates, more educated ppl.

Educated people do vote, but that hardly matters. The problem or an alleged one, is educated (what exactly everyone has in mind abou this phrase, I dont know) people do not contest election. The crux of the problem is there is no difference between these two once they jump into politics and by and large it depends on the conscience of the politicians. If education is the criterion then there would be no place for karmaraj. There are hundreds of educated politicians who indulge in crime and come to office for power and pelf. There are many uneducated politicans who dont indulge in crime either.
Ok now we have the sattankulam by election, whom should we vote for? JJ is an autocratic despot who has an iron grip over the party and no one to even think of opposing whatever she cares to do. She's quite educated also. Now why did she select neelamegavarnam as the candidate? One look at the candidate and we can be quite sure that this guy is not going to talk about economics, water management and other lofty things on behalf of his constituency. Now what prompts jj to select this guy despite her total control and despite having a rare privelage of doing anythign according to her whims and fancies? why did she not pick a good economist or any eminent person who would not be corrupt and who is capable of tackle the problems of the state? None of the political parties would do that and its not a great riddle to fathom.
If my memory is correct 2 eminent citizens contested the general elections (maybe 10 years ago I think 1991 elections) one was a p venkateswarn who served as a foreign secretary and radhakrishnan who served as a DGP for tamilnadu? Good, capable, honest and straighforward officers. Any guess how many votes they garnered? around 700 or 800? and where do u think it was? in madras, yes in madras the fort of the elite and educated and enlightened. Just imagine what would be the fate in other blighted and backward areas. Was it any wonder that manmohan singh has to sneak into the cabinet by rajya sabha and that he lost the lok sabha election last time? Its a no win game for the educated if they play by rules and consience. I am sorry the picture is bleak.
The only way out of this rut is privatisation so the chances for our babus and netas to launder money is less. Only if there is a transport coporation out netas and babus can play havoc in purchasing, appointments and tenders and so on. Suppose if there is no govt transport corp. at all? The same for all the govt mills, bread factories, mines and so on which the govt has no legitimacy to run. Of course still there will be corruption in rto, police, courts and so on, but it will be on a lesser scale. Lets hope for the best.

IRRESPECTIVE OF WHICH CORNER OF THE NATION WE BELONG TO, THE FACT THAT OUR CHILDREN WILL BE BROUGHT UP IN A WORSENING POLITICAL INDIAN SYSTEM......THIS ITSELF MUST MOBILZE US TO ROOT OUT CORROUPT GOVERNENTS....IT IS OUR COUNTRY AND THERE IS NO PRIDE TODAY. .....MOSTLY DUE TO THE FACT THAT CRIMINALS REPRESENT US ..AND WHO HAVE NO INTREST IN US.
FOR THE SAKE OF OUR CHILDREN....V NEED TO FEEL THE NEED FOR CHANGE.IT'S NOT EASY....BUT ESSENTIAL

to change this politics,First we need a leader who is well known in the state,Heshould be good at heart, should be upto 70% clean(since no one is perfect)Should be less than 50 years.
We should target the student community first,as they run into lacs now, bring food for work programme for all govt works, reduce freebies one by one. FHs please add on to this.
Also tell me a man who fulfils the above criteria.
As for me P.Chidambaram might be a good canditate.
His 70%- economist,well read, experience
his 30%- He is loyal to Gandhi clans.cannot come out of congress fold.

If we want clean politics in India, then we should not give our votes to Jaya and Sasi's owned ADMK party.
In centre we should not elect leaders like L.K Adwani, Murali Manohar Joshi...etc. Because Karshewaks of Ram Temple explained the truth in the court that, L K Adwani and M M Joshi only asked them to domolish the Babar Masjid.
Edward.

No no! we should vote for kEraLa maLayALa mAnthireekarkaL like unnikrishnana namboothiri et al. and vote for all billi, sunyam and kiLi jOsiyar gangsters!
That way we can make sure that every year laks of thamizhnAttu rice would be smuggled into kerala in the pretext of iyyappa malai prayer and every years tons of sandalwood trunks and elephants be donated to guryvAyurappan temple!

Every person has to cast his vote during polls. The politicians in the centre are now spoiling the ethnic diversity of our culture. They are the main reason for all the communal riots taking place. When we cast our votes next time we should see to that the party we vote for is not acquainted to any religion or community.
The person for whom we cast our vote should not only be educated but he/she should have the knowledge to distinguish between various possibilities that would help the people below poverty line. Annual meetings should be held, so that the ruling party would be checked out for their acquaitance with their election agenda. Privatisation should be avoided because as Nehru said "Public sectors are the Temple's are India".
It is from where the Government can fetch most of its income if properly looked out. When people getting involved in bribes are being caught off, they should be immediately fired off on proper evidence. When the Legislative members are well-to-do they should be asked to take care of themselves. It should not be the case of the MP representing DMK at the centre.
When u r cating vote for the next By-polls be careful. My suggestion would be to vote for C.P.I.(M)==> The successfull ruling party of West Bengal for the past 30 years. Let's make a change in our minds so that they can make the change happen.
