Today, immigrants account for at least one-third of the scientific and engineering work force of Silicon Valley and occupy senior executive positions in at least one-quarter of its new technology companies.
Many have advanced degrees in computer science and engineering -- fields in which the number of degrees granted by U.S. universities to American students has been declining.

ManivaNNan,
All this statistics will cut ice with me only if we become a strong lobby to contend with like the jews or chinese.
Like my middle-class PhD friend says, if we all think that we Engineers, Doctors, Scietists, Academecians and Entreuprenaurs should just make money, build temples and send some money home for charities, and any politicking is the Indian government's head-ache, whatever we may acheive here, San Antonios will keep repeating. Ms.Albrights will twist Indian history at will.

President Clinton says "I think we forget that among all the some-200 ethnic groups that we have in our country, Indian Americans and Pakistani
Americans have been among the most successful in terms of education level and income level. They have worked and succeeded stunningly well in the
United States and, astonishingly maybe, had good contacts with one another." He hopes that through these Indian and Pakistani Americans can help solve the Kashmir problem.
While it is true that most of the Indian and Pakistani Americans get along just fine most of the time, Kashmir has always remained a contentious issue. While the north Indians and Pakistanis happily jabber away in Urdu/Hindustani, they have never let their personal friendship interfere with their politics!
Actually, with similar logic, U.S. could attempt to resolve Eezham issue in Sri Lanka. But will it get anywhere with that?

The poor President does not know about the Eelam connections. His South Asian political and history lessons are most probably from the indomitable Ms.Albright.

Hi to whom can help me..... My name is Kathy and I have a beautiful friend not just a friend but I love this man dearly who is from Pakiistan, I am a proud American that is very concerned about the war and what is happening over there. Although I do not like Bush and may I say did not vote for him and will not vote for him or anyone like him ever, I will say that I do not beleive that he would use inocent women and children to shield himself from being captured or if the worst comes killed himself like Sadam has done. The problem with my beautiful love is that the media over ther is filling all the good peoples heads full of crap and I beleive if I cannot find some one to speak to him to let him know th true facts about what Sadam is doing then we will loose each other, and I do not want that to happen he has brought so much happiness into my life as I feel I have hi in the las 9 months we have known each other and it would be a real shame for us to loose that because of lies that are being told to them. Please help me if you can. Thanks Kathy a lover of people not of nationality.
