Thiru :) Punnahai,
Thank you again. I began my journey into the actual Tamil culture this year. Although, in 2000,
I was following certain aspects of Tamil culture.
Also, it was in 2000 I took the name, Skanthavelu Nadarajah. Although, if I want my name to be more Tamil, shall I say my name as "Kanthavelu Nadarasan"? Other aspects of Tamil culture I follow ie: I eat curry, and other Tamil food with my right hand, I always greet my Tamil friends with the traditional vaNAkkam and sometimes a handshake. I play CDs with traditional nadhaswara music when I do poosai, I sing thevarams etc... Also, can you provide me some urls of sites where I can learn about Tamil culture and how to behave as a Tamil? nanRi! Jai Karunamayi!
Thanks :) Punnahai(Smile)!

Is this the attitude you have. Is a Tamil to you a brown man and any white man who tries to adopt Tamil culture is a fake? Just because I adopted Tamil culture, took a Tamil name, does not mean I am a Tamil?
Dear Kanthavelu Nadarasan,
I have a hard time believing that you began your Tamil journey this year, yet you seem to know so much. If you are really a 'White' man, please accept my sincere apologies.
I have known a lot of people who use the anonymit y of internet to claim all sorts of things. I have read quite a bit of your writings in this hub and I had my sincere doubts about your claimed identity.
I have, absolutely, no problem accepting any human being as a fellow Tamil, if he/she wants to be counted as one. After all, my wife is not a Tamil - or for that matter an Indian. And my two little boys are only half-Tamils. So, I should be the last one not to welcome you into the Tamil world.
You know who you are. The color of the skin does not, certainly, determine your identity. The person in you, your thoughts and values, is what determines your identity. I am a citizen of the world, but a Tamil in my values and outlook.
Once again, I am sorry, if I misunderstood you. But, I have one sincere request to you, though. You seem to chant Jai Karunamayi, almost to the point of absurdity. Please, religion is a very personal thing.

Oh Madurai Veeran,
Thank you. Also, I did not mean to type your name in the post which I posted at 18:29:55. I meant it for R, AJ, and ET only. I am sorry. I should say, actually, I began my Tamil journey in 1997, the year I became a Hindu. Although, I was researching on it before 1997. I am happy that you can accept me as a fellow Tamil. From here onward, I am posting as Kanthavelu Mutthukiruttinar Nadarasan. And I will say "Jai Karunamayi" in my Karunamayi thread only. Other threads, I will say, vAzhga thamizh!

Madurai Veeran,
Another thing you should forgive me for... I, accused you of taking sides with AJ and ET who were refusing to accept me as Tamil. I am regretfully sorry. Also, let's just forget my white skin, okay? All that matters is that I am a Tamil. appuram pesalAm, thambi!
:) Punnahai,
I did live in Tamil country... In past births :)
Also :) Punnahai,
>>>you have a long way to go before you can call yourself a Tamilian. :))<<< Good one! hehe
AJ, and ET,
I believe that also a real Tamil is not bothered by any negativaty spewed at him by others, so, whatever trash you want to say, I do not care.
I am not wasting my precious time with you!

Kashtamar,
I never said I am a born Tamil. I am a Tamil by intergration. Meaning, I adopted the culture.
Neel,
>>>What you are is what you feel. Why do you need anyones approval?<<<
You are correct in what you said. If some Tamil people refuse to accept me as one of them even though I adopted the culture, that is okay. Also, I will avoid posting my phone number.

This makes me think that you are not really serious about anything including your conversion to Tamil culture and also at times makes me wonder if you really are someone of European descent (Polish? Greek?) since someone that is so serious about their conversion wouldn't be making silly remarks especially given the tangent this discussion has taken (i.e., people not wanting you to be Tamil etc.).

Why was Nagappa kidnappened? Well who else could be responsible for such a deed other then Mu Ka. At least according to Dr Puratchi Thalaivi-Amma JJayaram's theory.Pl read the text from Chennaionline
MK has links with Veerappan: Jaya
Chennai, August 31: Giving a political twist to the Nagappa kidnap episode, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa yesterday sought to link forest brigand Veerappan with her arch rival in Tamil Nadu politics, Karunanidhi, and instructed the state police to probe the possible links between the two.
In a statement here last night, she said the DMK chief’s sudden trip to Goa had given rise to suspicion that he might proceed to Bangalore from there to meet either forest brigand Veerappan or his emissary.
She said she had learnt that Karunanidhi, along with former DMK minister Duraimurugan, originally planned to go directly to Bangalore, but had later changed their plans, since there would be suspicion, if they went to that city.
Jayalalithaa said she had instructed the police to inquire about it and about the "secret" relationship, if any, between them. "The truth will come out soon," she said.
She said Karunanidhi and Duraimurugan were in Bangalore recently for five days. Nagappa was abducted only after their visit to Bangalore, she charged.
"It should be noted that Duraimurugan and Veerappan belong to the same community -- the Vanniyars," she said.
Meanwhile, the DMK headquarters here said Karunanidhi had left for Goa only to write about the Tamil grammar epilogue ‘Tholkappiyam’. (Our Correspondent)
I honestly think Amma deserves a Nobull Prize in criminology and thanks to the voters in Tamilnadu,TNadu has arguably the most intelligent CM in India.

:) Punnahai,
I am sorry if I offended you earlier. Hereafter, I will be very careful with what I say and who I say it to. Especially, since I am converting to the Tamil culture. I should really be careful with my utterances on FH. Especially since so many things I have said here in the last few months people have taken the wrong way. Karikalen, thank you for the explanation. thamizh vAzhga! vaNAkkam!
