why indian women are fond of jewels?

  I am sure that I have heard somewhere that married woman especialy should not serve tea or food without bangles or bracelets.
  And I am sure that there is some religious custom connected to wearing of jewelry, and if such customs do not already exist, we should invent one.

  both men and women were using the ornaments in the past.most men reduced their wish for jewels to minimum. still richmen prefer to use costly diamonds and chains/bracelets.
  women think jewels show their wealth whereas men see only cash/property.
  since i am seeing women with jewels from my childhood, women without ornaments look less beautiful to me.
