Can anyone recommend a comfortable homely rental furnished apartment at reasonable rate, for South Indian family for a week stay each in London and Paris for sight seeing?

  I rented the B&B in Primprose Farm. You get a room (no A/C), bath attached or shared, and kitchen prevliges. It's a short walk from the Tube- Chalk Farm Station. A pleasant walk to Hampton heath and Camden Town, depending on if you want to be nice or naughty =). Primrose Hill itself is a nice neighborhood. You may be asked to pay cash, in pounds. We liked it very much. You can tube into town and then retreat to quietness. There's an OddBins nearby for a take home drink, and nice restaurants on Regents Park Road, as well as a Grocery Store. Breakfast (vegan) is provided.
