R.K. Narayan has passed away, long live his greatness and fame. He was one of my all-time favourite writers. Well liked and admired at home and abroad, he made me very proud to be an Indian. One "joke" in literary circles was that the Nobel Prize commitee and the readers in the west ignored his books because the titles were very misleading. Many people thought they were self-help books on painting, teaching, etc!!

I hope he wins his well deserved Nobel Prize at least now. Better late than never.
