  Coming to think of it, Is not everything "small" for God including everything you see and don't see and can't see?
  If you take the arguement that God is everything you see and don't see, everything big and small is God,then why this exercise?

  I do not thoroughly understand the point you are trying to make between deciphering the correlation of "big" and "small" and how it parlays with God...
  I don't think the book perceives big/small things on such a broad scale. Roy specifically seperates the two, at least from my interpretation, to give the reader a clearer depiction of how a child learns to perceive his or her environment. She implies this through devices like language, (ie- having the children call the barn owl "A Nowl"), capitalization and poetic rhythms. Through our experiences as a child we learn to distinguish the important from the less important, or the big from the small. But children are given the chance, to live without that perception...even if for a short period of time. I am thinking specifically of the twins relationship with Velutha.
  When I read the book this year in my AP class, I saw it in revelence to the saying "children have their own God" and how the twins environment leads to the demise of the spirituality and innocence. Hence, their relationship crumbles after the events that happens to them in childhood.
  Ammu and Velutha's relationship shows that love prevails the unfortunate barriers of classification. The two show that the small-mindedness of others loses strength in the vast power of human love.
  I AM SO IN LOVE WITH THIS BOOK! Anyway, that probably didn't make too much sense...i really came to ask if anyone knows where I can find quotes by Roy or from the text. Thanks.

  "god of small things"by arundhati roy.factually,last summer vacation i had gone to one of my cousins place,my eyes came across a book of arundhati containing the same title as mentioned earlier.i have read maximum pages of this book but not fully,as it has to be submitted by my cousin to back to her office library.but watever i read,it was damn interesting and fully mentioned of india's...especially south india's culture and tradition.the very few topics in that took time to understand as they were not realted to previous chapters.
