Hi everone!
our parents saved our tradition and taught us about it.But what we are saving for the future generation?Our principle with their real meaning?or the great philosophical thought?Or the poetry works in tamil(religious)?
does the present generation learn about our culture & tradition or they tend to follow western tradition?

  What exactly do u mean by next generation?I'm 22 yrs old...do I come under that category?...I'm presuming that I'm included in that.....I have read thamizh poetry works of Bharathiar,Bharathidasan,Vairamuthu,Abdul Rahman...in Thamizh literature I have read Kalki,Balakumaran,Asokamithran and many others.....I have studied philosophies of Kannadhasan,J.Krishnamoorthy,Osho....do u think it wasn't passed to me?....or do u think there were a larger number of people in ur generation who were inclined to this?I dont think so...I have seen so many people in the prev. generation who haven't had slightest of interests in these...I personally think it is one's personal interest which will help him read these things....to an extent Parents can help....but that is not a necessary and sufficient condn.

  What I mean by next generation is,your next generation i.e people in 2040,2050etc..
  It's nice that you have learnt all these.But have all your friends or people of your age group learnt them?
  Parent's influence is very important in shaping a child's future.If our generation did not know these,how will we bring up the future generation in a goog way?
  Today Principles of life are being negotiated.If you get benefit,you may do anything.This what most of the parents teach their children.If this continues...
  That's why I ask,do the present generation understand the principles of life?

  I understand and appreciate your concern over the future generation.I cannot talk for others....as far as I'm concerned I was provided with all the stuff u mentioned from my parents...and I'm pretty sure there are still a lot of people who inculcate moral and cultural values into their kids...I'm in no position to take a generalised stance...

  I am also concerned about this. Once kids go out to school, especially when they are brought up in a different country they don't give much thoughts in these lines.

  That's what I ask you all.I'm interested in these things.But I'm not sure that my generations would be interested in them
  We've cultivate interest in them.But I don't feel that it's a easy task.
  My father often says that,children follow what their parents do and not what their parents say.And I beleive the same.

  Thats true but not always.For example:
  In most of the Indian homes, Mornings starts like this. parents like to eat idli/indian dish, kids are very particular to have sandwich and burgers. Buttermilk and Poriyal substituted withcoke and french fries.
  Washing hands? Eating with hands? ...
  These day to day essential activities are so different in them.
  Banana leaf? You eat them? or use them as a plate?
  
  If you try to change these, they become odd man out in a group of friends.
