South Indians of course are known as the most beautiful saree women. South Indian actress are one of the best Saree women. And of all the South Indian actress I think SHOBHANA is the most beautiful saree woman. She has the most curving hips and flanks and bright eyes.

She has a sensuous appeal in the saree tradition of expressing the beauty of body. Not in the usual bollywood concept of 'revealing'. She is a perfect South Indian saree woman.

I think the best saree women are
1.) Shobhana (especially for her posture, curves, and flowing stomach)
2.) Jayapradha (especially for her curving waist, stomach and wondeful shape)
3.) Goutami (especially for her erect posture, graceful body shape)
4.) Madhoo (for her features and posture and curving shapes)
5.) Vindhuja Menon (for her elegance and grace and beautiful features)
6.) Padmini Kolhapure. (for her sensuous wearing of the saree, always never covering her navel and stomach and her beautiful curving shape)
7.) Aishwarya rai (especially for her most perfect posture even while sitting, curving stomach and waist and beautiful grace of carrying her body)

Shobana, Padmini, Ragini et al are Nairs.

Can anyone give some info on Shobanas family background. Heard that her aunts are some kind of illegitimate kids of some Mysore maharaja or somone like that, though they are good dancers. What about Shobanas parents? Any siblings of her.

I think Kajol's the best looking saree woman. She's not South Indian but she did venture down there for a popular movie. And Aishwariya's not South either, and neither is Simran. In fact most of our actresses, these days, are from the North... Huh! Go figure! I guess that throws the south Indian saree woman title right out the window.
As far as south Indians go, I reckon Meena, although her face is sometimes annoying. Or Ramiya Krishnan or Devayani.

Aishwarya rai is a South Indian. she is mangalorean (not bengali as many north indian would claim to because of the phoenetic similarity of 'rai' with ray) South Indian women are definitely the best saree women.
The list is unending
Shobhana
sridevi
hema malini
meena
samyukta verma
madhu
bhanupriya
jayapradha
gautami
manju warrier
vindhuja menon
Aishwarya rai
kausalya

Yes the best saree woman is "Shobana" in the movie "Ithu Namma AAlu" by BhakyaRaaj. She was just emmm.. She was good in some Malayaalam movies - havin a sort of 'glinting' eyes at close-up. Fantastic powers of expression in her face and slim - no wonder she is sexy in sarees. Next on the line is the lord "Dhevayaani" now again our great "Simran" "Ria Sen" too. Ohh tamil film industry should certainly feel proud of the Matiny idols! is it not? I LOVE IT in SAREES. WOW!!

Everyone keeps saying "Shobana", but I have not the faintest who that is. Is she an old actress? As in, in the Sivaji days? Or more the Mohan and Salangai Oli days?
Can someone please explain so that I could figure out if I've seen her before or not. Thanks.
P.S. SISW, very impressive S.Indian list, but still doesn't stop the Northies from making an appearance does it? Why do you think that is?

Are you denying SISW that the likes of Simran and Kajol etc have the necessary 'requirements' (shall we say?) to be good saree women?
I seem to be a little confused...for then, what makes a good saree woman? I mean everyone seems to have different opinions?!

no i am not denying that these actresses are good saree woman. I am only restating that there are lots of beautiful South Indian saree women and so the title of south Indian saree women is appropriate. When I say one set of people are beautiful it does not imply that other set of people are not beautiful. The contrary interpretation by the reader is the fallacy of the reader and shows the biased view of the reader and not the writer
