Surya and Kajal Aggarwal locked lips for a scene in 2012's 'Maattrraan'... or did they?
Maattrraan featured an intimate moment between Surya and Kajal in a movie theatre.

K. V. Anand’s Tamil film ‘Maattrraan’, which starred Surya and Kajal Aggarwal in leading roles did fairly well at the box office, when it hit theatres in 2012. The science fiction thriller that opened to mixed reviews, went on to be dubbed in different languages including Hindi and Telugu.
Apart from its stunning visual effects, comic timing and underlining story, the film also featured an intimate moment between the lead actors in a movie theatre. The film shows the two engaging in a short lip-lock.

A behind the scenes video on the making of this scene has once again started doing the rounds online. Much to fans’ surprise, the two actors didn’t really lock lips on camera. Their brief on-screen smooch happens to be the work of good VFX and face tracking devices.


Both Kajal and Surya kissed pieces of styrofoam, with face tracking censors, that were then merged together to get the final outcome. VFX thus proved to be a good alternative for those actors who wouldn't want to kiss their co-stars don't you think?
A similar VFX style was seen in recent films like Shah Ruk Khan’s ‘FAN’ and the Hollywood film ‘The Jungle Book’.
