I Thought that sabudhana is the same as tapioca. but happen to scroll down and saw Mrs Soma's recepie for tapico made in kerala . she mentions them in slices. As far as i know i have seen them in small bubbles or white seeds like mustard . When soaked they become colorless. i had posted the carbo value for it versus the Rice white and brown. I hopeit is the same.
HEMANT I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP TO SLOVE THIS ONE.

Hi Suemani,
I believe Tapioca is the root of cassava tree and subudhana(sago) is made out from tapioca starch.
View this below link, you could see the picture of Tapioca Root.

Hello Suemani,
As far as I know, Tapioca is 'maravallikizhangu' in Tamil, whereas Cassava is 'kappakizhangu'. I have never cooked or tasted Cassava & Tapioca, have only eaten Tapioca chips available in Supermarkets.
Sago, since it is called 'javv-arisi', I am assuming it is a resin form of rice only. I have no idea about it being made from tapioca starch.

Dear Suemani, you must have seen Mrs.Soma's recipe in the thread Tapioca (kappa in Malayalam)
Here in Malaysia we call "maravallikizhangu" as tapioca. Mrs.Soma has grated the tapioca and added other ingredients and baked it as a cake. After cooling it she has sliced it into slices. That's why she has named it as tapioca slices.
Thanks

Hi Suemani,
cassava, tapioca, yuca all are indicating the same plant
"MANIHOT ESCULENTA".
Also i am sure that in tamil the name of(tapioca -cassava) is "maravalli kizhangu".But some also call "kappa kizhangu".
Because you may already know that tapioca-cassava is called kappa in malayalam,so people in tamilnadu(especialy people near to kerala region) also call Kappa kizhangu(kizhangu means tuber in english).
please view below links and then i hope that you will agree tapioca and cassava all are same.

Hello aps,
Sago, sabudana, Jabbarasi, Javvarisi, Tapioca starch Granules, cassava starch (granules)all refer to white crystaline starch of Cassava in processed form.
It is white and in tiny beads form.
Yes, Jabarisi, Javvarisi etc are same as Sago dana or sago.
