Dear palavi,
This is how I make mathanga erissery...
I am not sure about the measurements.. maybe this help u
yellow pumpkin - 1/2 cup
red gram - 1/2 cup
small onion - 2
fresh cocount grated -3/4 cup
curry leaves, mustard, turmeric,dry chillies
coocunt oil
Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
green chillies- 3
Soak red gram overnight and pressure cook for 2 whistle. after that add pumpkin pieces , turmeric, salt and cook for 5 min. meantime grind cocount, cumin seeds, green chillies, small onion , required water to thick paste.(not fine paste) add this to pumpkin and cook for 2 min. Then for seasoning heat cocount oil in another pan add mustard, dry chiilies, curry leaves and add this to pumpkin curry. Now its ready to eat..!!
