I am looking for a microwave idli stand (I have tried several stores in Chennai but have been unsuccessful). If you could give me any info on where I can buy one, I would really appreciate it.
Thanks.

I use Microwave egg pouch available in all US stores. You can make only two at a time, but it only takes about 90 seconds.

U are a sorry case for a man(are u one). Writing such derogatary things on a open forum against women shows how u were brought up. If you are married, I pity your wife and daughters and your sons toooo. You are going to pass on this repulsive thinking of yours to them. You pathetic low life scumbag, people living in US or UK...men and women......have many things to do in life other than making food. The life is not simpler as back in India. Understand.

Before continuing the discussion on microwave idlies, it will be interesting if some one writes the relative quality (or taste) of microwave idlies.
Nandha kumar's input about the comparison is very useful. But, is there any one with the same experience?
I bought once microwave-egg-boiler. Believe me, it took more time to boil the egg with microwave than just putting in a hot water (cleaning, removing the eggs etc). The taste of the microwave-cooked egg was not very impressive either.( I gave back what I purchased)
Hey Brook, I did not realize that it was a thread for only women..( I wonder why)

Nandhu Kumar. You must be an arrogant, selfish, thoughtless, inconsiderate and demanding Indian who makes quick judgements and generalisations. What do you know about hard work and time constraints? Do you live in the villages and struggle for your living? You need to take many classes but let me recommend a couple as a starters... "PR" and "How to be humble".

hello
Grow up people!it may be India or any other country people have to eat to live.so cooking is a means.some dont like cooking and some like cooking, this site is for people who wanna cook.Indians are brought up well mannered(majority population)and just because there are more villages doesnt mean they are ignorants.so before pointing fingers at others, look at yourself too.nobody is goody Miss/Mr two shoes.

Hi ladies and gentlemen! Precisely that!
Don't waste the space calling each other names!
Let's have some delicious recipes instead.
Just ignore illmannered responses.
Or send them some steamed idlis! (non-micro) They are obviously missing them, and not getting them!
Men who are not well-fed are forever grumbling.
Shall we teach them how to cook?
And -more important- clean up?

Tupperware (India) has introduced a microwave idli maker cum veg steamer cum somthing else - if I remember right, it can be used in 6-7 ways and costs around 700-800 Rs.
Re: The quality of the idlis - well, it definitely is much faster than steaming idlis, but the texture, quality etc is about 75% of the steaming process. IT is a good alternative if one is in a rush, but otherwise steamed idlis are the best if you can spare the time!
