Butter chicken is a gravy dish and chicken tikka is a (dry) kabab dish. Don't know the recipes, but rest assured that they are definitely completely different!
PS: there is also something called chicken tikka masala which is a (thick) gravy dish made with prepared chicken tikka kabas.

Butter chicken is Murgh makhani, said to have originated in the Moti Mahal restaurant in Delhi in the 1950's.Tandoori chicken is added to a sauce made from toamatoes and cream and the fat/oil from the tandoori murgh. Chicken tikka is just chicken breast, cubed, skewered and marinated, then cooked in a tandoor or similar.
