Hi,
Can any one pass on the recipe of proper pulav. Not with coconut, because in some recipe sites I have seen coconut used as ingredient in pulav.
If someone can pass on the recipe that would be great!

Hi pal, As far as I know the recipe goes like this. Wash Basmati rice and set aside. wash & Chop carrot, beans, potato, cauliflower, peas etc. In a Pan add ghee + oil and heat. Now add 2 -3 cloves and 2 cardamom and fry for 1min. Now add few bay leaves and slit green chillies (3-4 nos. now add vegetables and fry nicely for 2 mins. Add rice and salt and fry until good smell comes out. Now add required amount of water and cook it in cooker or microwave. Garnish with fried cashews, cilantro and fried onions.

i have a low calorie pulav that i make. grind in the mixie- 2 cloves garlic, a piece of onion, some cilantro leaves,green chillies and an inch of ginger.
keep this aside. chop 1 big onion finely. chop carrots,beans,peas,potatoes.
heat a small kadai.add 4 teaspoons of oil and a spoon of ghee. to this add-2 cloves ,an inch of cinnamon,1bayleaf ans a few cardamoms. add the onions anf saute till golden brown. now add the green paste and fry for 3-4 minutes. add all the vegetables and the pre-soaked basmati rice(soak for 30 mins).stir-fry for 30 seconds,add the salt. now transfer the contents of the kadai into the pressure cooker vessel and to the vessel add 1:1 ratio of water to rice.close the pressure cooker and steam for about 10 minutes or till 3 whistles. serve with fat free raitha!!!!!!

Please send me the recipe of pulav which is made in cooker..How much time i've to put in the pressure cooker

Hi sanjana,
This is how i make the paulav,
Ingredients
Rice (soak for 10mins in water)
Vegetables chopped (like carrot, beans, potato,peas)(you can also make spinach paulav in the same manner by adding the spinach & carrot only)
garam masala
ginger garlic paste
salt to taste
For grinding
Onions
corriander leaves
green chillies
ginger
garam masala
jeera
coconut (optional)
Heat oil in the pressure cooker, add the ginger garlic paste, jeera fry for some time.
Add the vegetables, garam masala and salt. Fry for a couple of minutes
Then add the ground masala
Add rice and the required amount of water..
NOTE: also take into account the water that you have added for grinding..
If you are using hot plate, then after on vessel take the cooker out ofthe hot plate.
If you are using gas then 3 vessels is perfect then let it cool..
