Hi GV,
When I was in India we used red hybiscus - the one with five petals. My mom dried the leaves and flowers and added them to the Shikai and made a powder. Since you might not have that in CA, try soaking the flowers and leaves in water and then grind them in a mixie the next day. Use this to shampoo. I cannot promise it will remove any oil off your hair but it is a good nourishment.

hi GV
this is priya here. i dont have any idea about how to grow hibiscus in ca but whenever you get hibiscus and its leaves... heat coconut oil in low flame, when it get a little hot add hisbiscus flower and leaves to it. be careful when you do this because few drops of oil may spill on... u also can add curry leaves and mehendi leaves (one handfull of both this leaves and 4 or 5 flowers will do for 100 ml oil). Use a filter and drain the oil and use once a week. one hour from root to the tip of your hair and then wash with mild shampoo.
