boil tomatoes in water for 15 mins...peel of the skin and grin it in the mixer..you tomato puree is ready

hai anu,
you can use tomato puree instead of tomatos., like rasam, sambar......everythings.,taste also very good, i'm using tomato puree for about two years (in US).

Hi anu,
It is very easy to puree tomatoes. Just place the required amount of tomatoes say 4 or 5 in a bowl. Mark a cross on the bottom of the tomatoes with a sharp knife so that you can peel off the skin easily. Pour very hot water on to them &keep covered for about 5 minutes. Then remove them from the water & peel off the skin from the bottom where you made the cross. You can then grind them in a mixie without adding any water & use this puree in your cooking.
After peeling,some people cut the tomato in half & squeeze out the seeds & then make the puree.But it is quite a messy thing to do; plus it is much healthier to consume the seeds too.
