Idli rava - Coarse rice powder

Does anyone know recipe to make anything other than idlies with idli rawa.

Yes, you could use the idli rawa or rice rawa to make Rice Uppuma/kozkattai

Pearl,
I have seen some of your recipes in other threads, they are great. Could you tell me the proportion of rive rava and urad for making idlis and the method?

IDLIS WITH RICE RAVA
Ingredients
Soft Idli rava 2 cups
Urad flour1 cup
Lemon Eno's SALT - 1tspn
Salt to taste
Method
Mix Urad flour with rice rava.
Add a pinch of salt and keep it in a warm place for about 1/2 an hr. After 1/2 an hr., grease the idli trays
Add Lemon Eno's salt to the mixture.
Mix well & put the batter into the idli trays. steam for about 10- 12 minutes
Serve with chutneys's/Sambar/Mulagai Podi

Rice Uppuma.
Ingredients:
Rice - 2 cups ; Toor Dhal - 1 hand; Red Chilly 6- 8; Oil - 3 to 4 tsp ; Mustard Seeds - 1/2 tsp ; Curry Leaves - a Sprig; Urad Dhal - 1 tsp; Asafetida - a pinch; Green Chillies - 2 to 3 (chopped Finely); Ginger - 1/2 inch (chopped finely); Water - 4 cups; Salt - to taste. ½ cup coconut scraped (optional)
Preparation:
1. Dry grind rice, Toor Dhal & Red Chilly like rave texture. Keep aside.
2. Heat a heavy bottomed vessel add oil, when hot add the urad dhal, curry leaves, salt, mustard seeds, chillies, ginger, asafetida. Fry for a minute or so.
3. Add 4 cups of water & bring to a boil, add the ground rice, dhal mixture and mix well. Lower the flame and let it cook till the water evopourated.
4. Allow to cool and serve hot with Chutney or Sambar.

Rice uppuma recipe contd..........
PN: Mung Dhal could be used instead of Toor Dhal. 2. Cashewnuts could be fried & added to the Rice Uppuma; 3. Cumin (Jeera Seeds) could be used for a variation it will give you the flavour of Pongal
For making Kozhakattai
Take a tablespoon of the cooked mixture & roll into medium-sized balls, steam in an idly-steamer for 20 mins. (Serve hot or cold with chutney or Sambar)
