Osterizer is a very good brand. You can get 12 speed blender with glass/ plastic jar and a food processor accessory for 40 dollars in Walmart. also you can get a small jar for around 2.5 dollars which is good for making small amount of pastes and chutneys. You can get it online also from walmart.com

If you want to get authentic taste for INdian cooking, you have to use Indian mixies. US mixies look cheaper but the life of the machine is low so in the long run, you will save more with Indian mixies while getting better tasting food.
You can buy the Indian mixie for around $125 from www.innoconcepts.com. I have been using it for the past three years and I am very happy with the performance and the food quality. For example, when i used Osterizer for coconut chutney, the coconut oil forms a ring at the top and then it melts and you can see the coconut fiber no matter how long I grind it or how much water I add. In Innomix, I make coconut chutney with practically no water and it gives a homogeneous mixture and the chutney does not get hot. It also gets ground in less than a minute.
