I have another recipe for mutton stew
Mutton- 1/2kg (cut into pieces)
potato (cut into pieces)- 1cup
carrot (small pieces) 1 cup
green peas or beans - 1/2 cup
big onion finely sliced- 1cup
green chilly- 5
ginger sliced- 1tsp
garlic sliced- 1tsp
cardamom- 3-4 nos
cinnamon- 2-3 pices
cloves- 2-3nos
black pepper- 10nos
milk or coconut milk- 1cup
vinegar- 1tsp
maida or cornflour -1tsp
salt- to taste
Method.
In a frying pan heat oil, put the cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and whole black pepper and stir. After 1 minute add the onion, ginger, garlic and the green chillies, saute for some time till the raw smell goes. No need to fry. Then add the mutton pieces, salt, vinegar and just enough water to cook the mutton. When it is half cooked add the potato, carrot, and green peas. When it is cooked well, dissolve 1tsp of maida or cornflour in the milk and pour it into the mutton.stir for some time till the gravy thickens. If you are using coconut milk, don't allow it to boil. Adjust the salt. Serve hot with palappam, vellayappam or bread.
