Here Indian Grocers Jaggery is not good (my opinion) Because When I prepared the Sarkarai pongal it is not come to a good taste. (I think it is salty) Anybodies knows where can i find a good jaggery.

I recently got an idea from one of other hubber that we can use brown sugar instead of jaggery. I haven't tried yet. But that sounds good. All jaggeries I have tried from indian stores were not very clean. I guess, brown sugar available in US supermarkets will be good quality.
Regards

Mini,
Yup, i'm totally not satisfied with the quality/way the jaggery is stored here. Yup, i use only brown sugar, and do u know 2 types of brown sugar are available at ur supermarket - light/ dark brown, so depending on the recipe u could select the color of the brown sugar, and if the recipe ask for jaggery then u have to use slighly more bsugar- depending on ur taste.
