Hi,
Both of us are going to work and our daughter is going to daycare. As such, she does not seem to have lunch in the day care. So by the time she comes back home around 4:30, she is desparately hungry. Can somebody suggest a good snack for a toddler 3 year old ?? Thanks in Advance for your hlep

Hi Usha,
Why dont u try bread with peanut butter or cheese or butter with or without jam? If u see in the American grocery stores, they have that lunch pack set where they have all kinds of snacks like rice cakes, cookies etc. Every day, u can try one thing. Also, with those items, u can accompany with the small pack juice.
Try giving small pieces(1/2 piece) apple w or w/o skin, cant say about other fruits, since i am not sure whether she is chewing all the foods or not. But, apple is safe and wont be messy.
Instead of giving one thing, can give assorted varieties like fruits with juice and some snack (munchkin, small donuts etc.) Even, u can give her different small boxes of cereals or put it in the ziploc bag in a small qty.
Hope this is sufficient and helps u.

Hi R,
Thanks for your response. As such, she does not favour anything that she has to chew and is sort of sweet. She likes things that are not much of sweet but salty a bit.
I can try giving the munchkins and donuts for the first time and see how she responds. Other than that, I would like to know if there is anything else that she can eat without making her bite, I would prefer that, since I want to avoid seeing her getting cranky.
Thanks in advance

hi,
how are you your sweet little daughter and husband?
if she likes idli or dosai[if you can make it on weekends & I'm not sure about buying readymade from shop I have never tried] you can grind carrot while grinding or if it is readymade you can simply wash it,cut it make it as paste and mix it with the batter. while making dosai or idli it will be very colorful as well as very good for the health also.even you can try while making chappathi dough.many children including my 4 yr old son loves that.if she is ready to try you can try with some other vegetables...
wish you all the best.within 5 minutes you can make dosai 0r chappathi and 10 minutes for idli.

Hi
I have 2 sons 2.5 and 1 year old. I try a variety of foods. You can give her shell pasta with creamy sauce. Cook pasta and mix with the sauce. The sauce can be made from an instant powder. You can even try with a Ragu tomato pasta sauce. Pancakes are softer too, sweet with syrup. Waffles are sweet with syrup. French toast are sweet. These are readily available in the frozen section. You can try macroni and cheese. You can try mashed potatoes. You get instant powder. Try a cup of raisins and nuts. Your daughter is 3 year old, which means she can chew any hard stuff. My 1 year old likes to chew and eat with just 4 teeth. He chews idly, chicken, fish, cookies everything.
She may like varieties like my son. Try giving her something different everyday. Since you are working, you can try the frozen items. If you give her typical Indian food try adding all spices like jeera, coriader, garam masala, she might like the aroma.
Sometimes if kids have pinworms, they are fussy and cranky and don't eat well too. Make sure or train her to do her potty regularly at the same time. Try prune or pear juice just before bedtime.
I can understand the feelings of a mother when kids don't eat.
And don't worry, kids usually grow out of these fussinss after a few years.
