I enjoy the kavitaikal posted here. I also see many mispronunciations and/wrong transliteration. So here are some tips from the experts for your benefit.

  Well aruvai Arudko,
  what I posted is not my writing, it is that of well known tamil researchers. Now if you have some other researchers that think otherwise please post, if you are a researcher too please post, otherwise shut up and get lost.

  Well iyengar pirkasu (a.k.a puNNah),
  I agree the pronouciation of the word punnakai along with other 'k' characters that does not follows meiezhuththu is pronouced some what closer to 'h' (as I earlier posted N.G Ganesan's execerpt citing it's actually (7/10 h + 3/10 g), that is something you convieniently forgot/ignore!
  
  But what I was telling in this thread is (as George Hart says) we should stick with the 'k' when writing just as we do in Tamil. For eg in Tamil we rep both 'ka' as in kaN (eye) and 'ka' as in akam (pronoucec aham) with the same symbol 'ka'. So being faithful to that traditon we should stick with the same symbol in romanized Tamil writings!

  the reason I use ha in my nick is to correct the mispronunciations and the misuse of the sound "g" by some whenever there is a "k" in the middle of a tamil word. Yes, we are supposed to use "k" to transliterate when we are among people who know Tamil, but the purpose here is to teach pronunciation.
