Q I know this is a QUESTION which U will hesitate to reply. But We would like to
know from Ur viewpt WHY "VELLITHIRA" FAILED AT THE BOX OFFICE?

A Well to start off,When I start to make a movie, the questions I will ask to me
is whether the script, cast & other technicians are good or not.If it is a
positive reply,I will proceed.But 4 the case of "Vellithira",I wasn't patient
enough to ask these questions.Thats the major factor the movie flopped.

Q Could U please ellaborate it?

A Before "Vellithira",I was going to make "Swarnam" with LAL.There were many
talks that it is the sequel to Spadikom wher Lal returns from the jail. But
it wasn't a sequel to any.So when I completed our first schedule,Lal was
in his peak after the release of "NARASIMHAM".So due to my producer's
business mind,he tryed to encash his superstardom. So he paid less heed to
the script. So automatically the script was written only during the schedule.
But when Lal's Praja,Onnaman & Thandavam released & flopped badly,the situations
changed.Except Chaturangam, his other movies were in the minute stage which
included Swarnam & Chakram. So one day he called me and told that he would like
to see the whole script before the shooting of the IInd schedule.I thought since
there was a long gap b/w the Ist schedule & the following schedule, the script
would be ready.I contacted the writer. He assured me that he will be ready with
the script before the shooting. So when the shooting commenced,We heard a news
that Lal stopped shooting 4 a Kamal-Lohi project. We were stunned because no one
would say no to these people.I asked the writer immediately whether the script is
ready. But he had no answer.I started to get tensed. When Lal arrived at the set
the first thing he asked was the script. He then told that the left "Chakram" since
the script wasn't ready. He told Kamal the same words which he told me.But Kamal wasn't
ready with script or didn't have any idea abt the script itself.I had no answer to his
words. He was totally surprised. He then went to the producer and returned the advance.
We tryed to stop him but Lal told that he is not in a situation to continue a project
without a definite script.Lal's flops made him to say these.I couldn't think abt "Swarnam"
without LAL.It was the worst moment of my etire film career.

Q So what was its influence over "Vellithira"?

A When Swarnam was shelved,I was in a bad situation.I started to loose my consciousness.
This made me to take Vellithira.I didn't come to the script discussions or anything.
The producer done it all.So the movie went hayward due to a bad script. But Vellithira
had everything to attract crowds towards the theatre.Good Songs,Prithviraj & Navya after
Nandanam and my movie after a long gap.But since a bad script played a huge role it
Flopped.

Q Some say U tryed to carve out Lal's image from Prithviraj which was a reason 4 its failure.

A Its not true.Because many R expecting a Lal movie, they automatically tryed to compare
Prithviraj with Lal.I am sure that Pritviraj has to go a long way to become a LAL.He
still in his begining stages.I think this is also the reason 4 Chakram's failure. The
role which Lal should can be done only by Lal.Thats why I stopped Swarnam. It is hell
of a job 4 any actor like Prithviraj to give it a Lal Perfection. So people wasn't impressed
by that movie.

Q Do U have any HARDS FEELINGS TOWARDS LAL?

A No.Not at all.If U think from his view point what he has done is right. No one can't risk
a career for sentimental values.I read his interview which he told that he wanted to leave
Thandavam & Onnaman but seeing the producer's state,he continued. It might be humane but it
affected his career badly. In my view,he is still my favourite actor. So if we get a chance to
work again,Sure we will WITH A FULL SCRIPT.I am sure it will happe
