Poochakku Oru Mukkuthi: All-time best comedy movie

Priyadarshan's first movie was an out and out laugh-riot. Released in 1983, POM was a comic relief to the starved malayalam audience and a turning point in the direction of good family oriented comedies.
The whole POM team clicked amazingly, from Venu in his 'unforgettable role' to the 'until then boring' Soman. 20 years down the lane, POM gives you more laughs than a 'CID Moosa' or even Priyan's own "Akkere Akkere'.
A true claim for 'Best Comedy Movie of all time'...

I wouldn't say POM is a best comedy movie of all time, but sure it was a good comedy movie.

FMM,
i didn't find anything unforgettable abt POM. I felt It waz a "watch it, and forget it" movie...
If u ask me the comedy movies i liked the most, itz nadodikkattu and sandesam..
"vijaya, ee budhi namukkenthe nerathe thonniyilla?"
"ellathinum athintethaya samayamundu dasa"
"polandil enthu sambhavichu?"
"polandinepatti oraksharam mindi pokaruthu.."

I dont think you guys are getting the point...Sandhesham was definitely a nice movie but it was by no means an out and out comedy..I was not comparing POM with movies like sandhesham or sanmanasullavarke samadhanam or vandhanam or a chithavishtayaya shyamala or even killukkam...I was going more by the hollywood definition of a comedy..a fun movie filled with laughs like 'Airplane' or 'National Lampoons' or 'Hot-shots' or 'Mafia'...i hope you get the point now...

To put it in brief, POM was a movie without any Sandesham...:))
Of the comedy's prior to POM, I can recollect only
Kurukante Kalyanam (By Satyan Andhikaud with Sukumaran, Madhavi) was good
Kinnaram (By Satya Andhikaud with NEdumudi & Sukumaran + Poornimaa Jairam) was also good
Also to an extent Mandanmaar Londanil... which is in the Moosa genre...

POM oru 'full time comedy' film aayirunnu.may be the first one in that genre.before that hariharan's 'poocha sanyasi' was released with the tag 'oru muzhuneela hasyachithram'.But POM is all way better than that.this film gave a break to mohanlal and a group of actors was formed.lal, maniyan pilla raju, nedumudi, jagathi,CI paul, sukumari, sreenivasan, mukesh, pappu, lisy, menaka, poojappura ravi.with the combination of one or more these guys priyan directed a lot of slapstic comedies and many of them are watchable.

Jaydev,
Sukumaran, Madhavi, Aruna, Lal (guest role), Bahadur, Meena, Jagathi, Sankaraadi etc.
Bahadur was superb in this film.
