Dear Friends

Well after doing a small research on Padmarajan's Fans & Films,Here is my next
subject connecting the previous ONE!!Well its about the Best scriptwriters in
Malayalam Film Industry!Actually We R here to discuss about our Views about
the following Scriptwriters!!I send it in 3 series!

Well U Guys can add other names into this list but PLEASE AVOID Rafi- Mecartin,
UdayKrishna-Sibi K Thomas etc etc..Please Don't waste space and time with these
JOKERS!!

I have written a long message by descibing each of them.Browse Quickly and Do the
Following.It would be better to have a mouse with a scroll wheel.
Well here we will choose any 3 or more (If U can Afford to spent time) discuss about
their STRENGTHS & FLAWS,their best Movies,Achievements etc etc. But try to
shorten down.Along with these we will just mention about other writers who have
done less Scripts like Venu Nagavalli.

I have already Mentioned about Padmarajan in my last Subject "Attention Padmarajan
Fans".Now lets go to Others

Sreenivasan

Sreenivasan who is known as "Hrishikesh Mukherjee of South",But in my view I think
he is way betond H Mukherjee.Because only a very few movies of H M had the quality
of his like Anand and others , but some of his other movies were simply Repetative!
His strength is he could blend Natural comedy with Human relations or Social
Problems whatever is pointed out in the Script.Nowadays he is loosing his touch like Others.

Best Combination - Lal-Sathyan , Lal- Priyadarshan

Best Movies - T P Balagaopalan M A, Naadodikaatu,Varavelpu,Gandhinagar IInd Street,
Pattanapravesham , Sandesham , Akkare Akkare Akkare , Chintavishtayaya Syamala,
Vadakku Nookiya Yanthram , Mithunam etc etc

A K Lohitadas

Lohi is known for taking on the Internal relations of a human,His feelings, His attitude
in a background of Contrast. 4 Eg - Kireedom is about an innocent person who had
to land in a bad background just 2 save his father.Its sequel Chenkol was able 2 continue
from where Kireedom left (Which many other sequels couldn't).Its about the same
person facing the dsasters occuring in his family afer he is back from the jail which
led him to a Street Fighter.This is Lohi's strength.He was able to go through the script
with his character.But his flaw is that he couldn't work on a complete script before
shooting commences.

Best Combination - Lal- Sibi Malayil

Best Movies - Kireedom, Chenkol, Thaniyavarthanam, Kamaladalam, Bharatham,
Bhoothakannadi, Veendum Chila Veetu Karyangal, His Highness Abdulla, Aadaram,
Karunyam

Cherian Kalpakavaadi

Very less people knows him but not his movies.His name is Cherian Kalpakavaadi.
He has got the same style of Padmarajan. Very Different from the previous movie.
Thats the reason why he is in this list.His association with Venu Nagavalli is much
known even though they did a very few movies.

Best Combination - Venu- Lal or Just Lal

Best Movies - Ulladakkam, Laalsalaam , Nirnayam, Pakshe, Rakthasakshikal
Zindabad

M T Vasudevan Nair

"To do his Script is a dream come true 4 any Director" says Priyadarshan.M T is
argubaly the best in serious films.If V say 2 choose between M T & Padmarajan,
Its like choosing dress of same colour.He is known 4 his Range , Dialogues ,
Screenplay and The Famous M T Style!!Only problem is now his movies are not
getting Identified as before except in the award Commitee.

Best Combination - I V Sasi, M T- Hariharan

Best Movies - Amruthangamaya, Sargam, Parinayam, Panchagni, Theerthadanam,
Edanilangal, Anubandham

Dennis Joseph

He is known 4 his entertaining action movies.He knows where to add what during an
allround entertainer.U can expect everything in his movie!!His association with Shibu
Chakravarthy was famous a Screenplay writer duo!!

Best Combination - Joshi-Mammotty

Best Movies - Aakashadoothu, Nair Saab*, New Delhi, Kuttetan*,Dhruvam,
Nirakootu, Sainyam*. (*His assocition with Shibu)

K J George

George got the style of investigating.He either investigates an incident, a personality,
an occupation.He is considered to be the best director-writer after Padmarajan.

Best Combination - Mammotty

Best Movies - Aadaminte Variyellu , Yavanika , Lekayude Maranam Oru Flashback.

S N Swamy

Kerala's own Alfred Hitchcock.He is Known 4 those great supense thrillers.Whenever
we see his name in the poster,Our Ist thoght about the movie is a suspense thriller.

Best Combination - K Madhu-Mammotty

Best Movies - Oru CBI Daiykuruppu, Jagratha, Naaduvazhikal, Irupatham Nutandu,
Oru Abhibhashakante Case Dairy, The Truth

Kallor Dennis

His is not known.But it is Surprising that 95% of his movies are Hit.He delivers
comedy capers but a standard one.

Best Combination - Viji Thampi-Jagadeesh-Sidhique-Jagathi

Best Movies - Thiruthalvaadhi, Adheham Ennu Edheham

Renjith

"Malayalam Film has got a writer of the heights of Padmarajan.Its Ranjith".Its told
like that.Even though he is the reason 4 Many Mega hits like Devasuram, Aaram
Thampuran, Narasimham,,,Great Movies like Oru Maymaasapulariyil, Maayamayuram
and comedies like Pradeshika Vaarthakal,He is an Allround Talent.But one Flaw is
Thats the MAIN.His movies except Devasuram & Oru May.... ,None of his other
movies has the standard screenplay 2 COMPARE WITH Padmarajan.He has Flaws,
Big Flaws like Usthad, Narasimham, Mizhirandilum.Even Nandanam has a weak
screenplay but the movie was sensation because it has fresh script, Good music and
Malyalam Film Industry was in need of a good movie 2 run.But he is still talented.

Best Combination - Any Director-Mohanlal or himself with Mohanlal

Best Movies - Devasuram, Pradeshika Varthkal, Oru Maymaasapulariyil, 6th Thampuran

Renji Panickar

Dialogues, Dialogues.!!Thats is his Strength.Known 4 his Famous One liners.While
Ranjith use Malyalam , Here is Renji with English Dialogues.His flaw is, well its
not a flaw really, is too much use of foul Languages and abusing ladiesby heros.
Thats all but it happens in our society.He is known 4 his Political Dramas.

Best Combination - Shaji Kailas -Suresh Gopi , Joshi -Suresh Gopi

Best Movies - The King , Ekalavyan, Commisoner, Pathram, Lelam, Sthalathe
Pradhana Payyans, Thalasthanam

Balachandran Menon

The Only writer-director-actor 2 win national as well as state awards for all the 3
positions.A Family Director, Gave Many Hits, Once a Sesnstion But Not Now!!

Best Combination - He-Himself

Best Movies - Chiriyo Chiri, Samantharangal, April 18, Achuvetande Veedu

  Guysssss Guyssssssss!!! We are missing some brilliant scripts like Sukrutham and Aham here. I believe that Aham has been made for international audince, it just pierce through your vain. Even Sadayam, also the script of Bhoothakannadi was an exceptional treatment. About this forum no one has any doubt about Padmarajan. He was a genius!! Thoovanathumbikal was one hell of a movie. Also, there has been experiments like Guru, which needs to be appreciated. But before throwing the stones on the directors and prodcuers, have you people looked into you and check what kind of movies, we are making hits?! This is a natural process. What you want is what you get. Pure cosumerism. You want third rated comedies, you will get it!! So, let us look into it and welcome those rare experiments to make our malayalam movie a mile stone in the history.

  Aham was a confused script. esp. bhrathanmarude oro cheshtakalum mattum, nilavaramillatha comedy aayirunnu. moreover, lal-inte first phase-ile character ithiri exaggerated aayipoyi! anyone remember, monday cabbage, tuesday carrot, dialog.. aa comedy parallel track koode ozhichu nirthiyal movie was brilliantly executed! but, i won't rate it as exceptional!
  
  Sukritham was a gr8 theme. swantham marana report mammootty vayikkunna aa oru scene, MT ithuvare ezhuthiyathil vechu ettavum nalla oru instance aanennu parayathe vayya. but, post interval movie-ku oru cheriya documetary style vannupoyi. aa prakrithichikitsa-yude scenes esp... But, Ravishankar is one of the excellent characters mallu has ever seen.

  Aham failed mainly due to the CONFUSED SCRIPT.SOME REALLY DIDN'T UNDERSTAND THAT MOVIE.

  Thank you for starting a good discussion. Cheriyan Kalpakavadi is a good script writer, but does he deserve number 4 spot?
  Even though less in number Madambu Kunjukuttan and C.V.Sreeraman had given us excellent scripts.
  and what about John Paul? He had a good combination with Bharathan.
  You missed to list the non comedy movies from Sreenivasan
  Mazhayethu munpe, Champakkulam thachan and Maravathoor kanavu
  I dont think Sargam is an MT script. It doesnt have that quality. I am not sure.
  And you also forgot to mention that MT did very well with his own direction. Nirmalyam, Manju and Oru cheru punchiri.

  Malayalam movie made spin before 80s. Till then it was followed the same or related path of tamil or hindi film. Exceptions are there too. Later we have our film culture still it follows. Undoubtfully I can say the spinner in script was John Poul with the blessing of Bharatan. Painfully Malayalam movie ignored him

  I don't think its fair to pre-judge personalities like Rafi-Mecartin, Uday Krishna, Sibi K Thomas. They are obviously in need of a fair time for people to make their judgements. As human beings, no one is perfect. Practice makes perfect & that is just about the way things go.

  i consider his script for "ponnmutta idunna thaaravu" as an extremely inventive 1.esp. the way parvathi's character was designed and revealed only during the final moments of the movie.also the character of the bed-ridden father of srini.the scene where everybody thinks he is dead and he gets up and starts unwinding the clock.those were brilliant moments i suppose.the kind of humour which we lack today i guess.
  even mazhavilkaavadi" was characterised by quirky characters which were made totally believable on screen.u cud partly attribute the success of such character-presentations to sathyan anthikad's directorial skills too.
  "vaanaprastham" is an other movie of his which had finely etched-out characters.i belive he was also the co-writer of "piravi"."meleparambil aanveedu" still send me into splits everytime i watch it.

  also isnt it wrong to classify srini as the hrishikesh mukherjee of south.i belive srini's grasp over the human psyche is far more pronounced than mukherjee's.i consider sreeni to be a combination of james.l.brooks(as good as it gets,terms of endearment,broadcast news) and woody allen(annie hall,everybody says i love u,the apartment).
  i am not speaking abt the genre in which these guys write their movies,but the mould in which they set their characters.that culmination of a realistic and yet quirky characterisation always fascinates me.
